This is the horrific moment CNN anchors watched a protester set himself on fire outside Donald Trump’s hush-money trial in New York City.
The dramatic moment occurred on day four of the former president’s hush-money trial in Manhattan Criminal Court.
CNN reporter Laura Coates, who covered the Trump trial, initially thought the commotion was due to an active shooter.
“There’s an active shooter in the park…no one has set themselves on fire outside the courthouse,” she announced.”
The network’s cameras then turned to show the man still engulfed in flames on the ground.
The man was seen in a barricaded area near the courthouse and set himself on fire at around 1.30pm on Friday.
NYPD officers arrived after the man doused himself with gasoline and set himself on fire in front of the world’s media, as well as shocked onlookers.
Shocking video showed the man twitching on the ground as he was engulfed in flames, before another man rushed over with a fire extinguisher.
