Trump tells town hall he once urged Sean Hannity NOT to joke Biden’s condition

Former President Donald Trump says he called Fox News host Sean Hannity to urge him not to joke about President Joe Biden’s condition as he commented on the “bad fall” the president experienced hours after he was in Colorado tumbled.

Trump returned to the issue hours after raising concerns about his rival when the president suddenly fell to the floor while handing out diplomas to cadets graduating from the Air Force Academy.

“That was a bad fall,” Trump said, after Hannity himself said there needs to be a “serious discussion” about Biden’s physical fitness and “mental understanding.”

“Well, I don’t know if I should say this. I actually called Sean and I asked Sean not to joke about it. Because he used to joke about it. And I honestly said, I don’t think it looks good for you or anyone else to joke about it because it’s serious,” Trump said, before Hannity cut him off.

His interviewer said he used to joke about “drinking cup and warm milk and bedtime stories,” and said he doubts Biden knows “what day of the week it is today.”

So I said I don’t think it’s good for anyone. And you know, it’s not appropriate,” Trump continued. “You can talk about it if you want, but I don’t think you should joke about it, and you really didn’t after that.”

“It’s sad,” Trump said. “We all represent the country. You’re going to be president and you shouldn’t be doing that. But it happened.’

It was Trump’s second time on the high road on Thursday, having previously expressed concern about Biden. He did it in a segment where he hurled just a single insult at rival Ron DeSantis.

Trump also reflected on the difficulties of going public as president, but said falling is not an option.

“You can’t fall, you just can’t fall no matter what,” Trump said.

“You can’t fall,” Trump said, describing the time he tiptoed down a slope at West Point

“I better not let it happen to me. But things like that happen,’ he said.

Trump also returned to his own time delivering the start at West Point, where he was famous for walking down a slope with great caution, after Hannity brought him up saying he had no railing and was wearing dress shoes with ‘very smooth soles’.

That was my best speech. I was so proud of it,” Trump said, saying people would review it in 100 years.

He then described the commander saying to him ‘sir, you have to go down the slope’.

“It was long — like an ice rink,” Trump said. “I said General, get ready, because I might have to get you here,” Trump recalled.

He said he decided to tip the town down. “That was a mistake, because it didn’t look very good,” he said.

“But I was killed and they never reported that speech,” he said.

The comments came after earlier Trump care showed Joe Biden and even made a joke of himself when he learned that the president had fallen again while on stage at the Air Force Academy.

“Did he really fall?” Well, I hope he wasn’t hurt,” the former president said on the Iowa campaign trail when told of the 80-year-old’s fall.

Images of Biden being helped back on his feet after his trip will raise more concerns about his age and health during his second presidential election.

‘It’s all crazy. You have to be careful with that. Even if you have to tiptoe down an incline,” Trump added.

Trump was referring to the moment when, three years ago, he left the podium at West Point Military Academy and appeared to cautiously shuffle down the slope.

During the June 2020 speech, Trump used both hands to sip from a glass of water and took what appeared to be “baby steps” as he walked away.

“The ramp I descended after my West Point Commencement speech was very long and steep, had no handrail and, most importantly, was very slippery,” Trump said in a tweet in the aftermath.

It raised similar questions and concerns about his health that Biden faces after his latest incident.

The commander-in-chief tripped and fell to his knees, and had to be helped to his feet during the graduation ceremony.

It was the latest of several incidents where the president briefly lost his footing, though in this case it brought him down.

After the fall, the president then walked away unassisted. The White House later pointed the finger at a black sandbag seen near the dais where Biden gave the commencement speech.

“He’s fine,” White House communications director Ben LaBolt tweeted shortly after the incident. “There was a sandbag on stage as he shook hands.”

The stumbling comes just weeks after Biden tripped while visiting the Itsukushima Shrine in Hiroshima, Japan.

During that event, a railing was available on a staircase that the president had to navigate down. He ignored the railing and stumbled, walking down and recovering his balance. Biden also stumbled when he boarded Air Force One on a trip to Selma, Alabama, in March.

Biden fell up the stairs when he boarded Air Force One in 2021 and fell on his bike near his beach house in Delaware last June. He was not injured in any of the incidents.

A pool reporter who traveled to Colorado with the president said Biden “walked back to his seat when he fell.” He turned out to have tripped on stage over a black sandbag.

“As he fell, he pointed to the black sandbag, suggesting he had tripped on it,” the report said.
