Trump tells eco-mafia protester to ‘go home to your mother’ after harassing him in Iowa: Activists calling the ex-president a ‘climate criminal’ are dragged outside and the crowd chants ‘US ‘ while criticizing them for wanting to stop the oil
- Environmentalists attended Trump’s rally in Indianola, Iowa, on Sunday
- Comes the day before the January 15 Iowa caucuses
- “They’re fighting oil to basically say ‘let’s shut down our country,’” Trump said of the young protesters, claiming, “They will grow up.”
Donald Trump told young protesters who infiltrated his campaign stop in Indianola, Iowa, on Sunday to “go home to mommy” and “grow up” after experiencing his first outburst at a rally in years.
A group of environmental protesters interrupted Trump’s rally in Indianola, Iowa, on Sunday, holding up banners accusing the former president of being a “climate criminal.”
The protesters were scattered throughout the crowd and were escorted from a student union building where Trump held a final rally before the Iowa caucuses on Monday.
Not only were those who supported Trump inspired to come out in -18 degree temperatures, but those who opposed his candidacy also decided it was worth braving the cold.
‘Thank you darling, thank you. That’s OK,” Trump told the first protesters who interrupted the rally. ‘Go home to mom, mom is waiting. Go home to mommy.’

Former President Donald Trump told climate activists protesting his rally to “grow up” and “go home to mommy.” He kept a straight face as he donned a white and gold “Trump Caucus Captain” cap as protesters were cleared from the room
‘So young. So young,” he continued after some other protesters burst into chants. “You know, it’s amazing because that always happened, and I don’t think it’s going to happen in two and a half or three years.”
“Anyway, so young and immature.”
The ex-president said the interruptions “always create excitement.”
“They will grow up and understand that what we do is very important if we speak from common sense,” the former president said of the young protesters.
He noted that protesters have not come to his rallies in more than two years.
The same group of protesters also appeared at meetings of biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the Des Moines Rea in the week leading up to the Iowa caucuses.

Another protester held up a banner with the message: ‘Trump: Climate Criminal’
The former president’s comments were joined by a slew of politicians and lawmakers supporting him, including Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Trump’s former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker.
A message from Lara Trump, the wife of the ex-president’s middle son, Eric Trump, was also played.
The venue, a room in the Simpson College campus center in Indianola, Iowa, had a few hundred seats and additional standing room. Although a final count of attendees was not immediately available, at least 500 people appeared to be present for the meeting.
It’s been a while since protesters attended Trump’s rallies — something that used to happen at almost all of the former president’s events. Trump is said to bask in the moments of protest, waiting for security to escort opposing demonstrators out before continuing with his remarks.
Supporters lined up outside the venue ahead of Trump’s arrival, despite subzero temperatures.
‘You have to look outside, there are hundreds of people. The storm had no effect whatsoever,” Trump said at the top of his remarks after canceling all weekend events except the indoor rally in Indianola.
“Dress warmly tomorrow night.”
Those present fought the protester over his banner. The protesters, along with supporters, braved the -18 degree weather to show up for Trump’s rally and express their opposition to his climate policies and his presidency.
