Trump targeted in THIRD ‘assassination attempt’ as gunman arrested outside Coachella rally
A man with a shotgun, a high-capacity magazine and a loaded handgun was arrested Saturday near Donald Trump’s rally in California.
Police are treating the incident as “probably a third assassination attempt” on the former president.
Vem Miller, 49, was taken into custody after being stopped at a checkpoint near the rally.
“This incident had no impact on the safety of former President Trump or event attendees,” the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office emphasized in a statement about the incident.
But Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said it was “likely” a third attempt on Trump’s life, according to the Southern California News Group.
Donald Trump will meet in Coachella, California on Saturday, October 12
Bianco, a known Trump supporter, told the outlet that Miller presented fake VIP and press passes at the checkpoint, which led to the search.
Miller, a Las Vegas resident and registered Republican, was found to be in illegal possession of the firearms and ammunition on Saturday when his black SUV was checked.
Miller posted his $10,000 bail and was released. He has set a court date for January 2.
