Trump slams ‘overrated’ Bill Maher and says his show is dead

Donald Trump blasted Bill Maher and his late night show Saturday, calling him “overrated” and his long-running program a flop.

The comments came about the two-term presidential aspirant Truth social account, hours after the progressive talking head took aim at himself Friday broadcast of Real Time.

There, Maher accused Trump of colluding with Russia – something he said Joe Biden has resisted. He also accused Trump of trying to overthrow the government — a charge he said should have put him in jail instead of during the vote.

Trump, in turn, fired back — more than a decade after he sued the comedian for $5 million for joking about being the son of an orangutan. That application was withdrawn within a few months.

On Saturday, however, Trump reignited that old feud, fresh off his conviction in Maher’s hush-money case in New York, while speaking to disgraced Democrat Andrew Cuomo and the ex-Illinois representative. Adam Kinzinger was also mentioned the day before.

‘Bill Maher, the vastly overrated ‘star’ of the ratings-challenged show where the fake, loud and obnoxious laughter pours out of your set every few seconds even when nothing funny was said (which is most of the time!), suffers from a terminal case of Trump Derangement Syndrome,” 78-year-old Trump wrote.

“Republicans should stop using him as a reference point, his show is dead!”

Hours earlier, the 68-year-old Maher spoke less than enthusiastically about the Republican Party’s choice for president. He portrayed him as a despot as he engaged in a somewhat surprising defense of Biden, whom he had previously panned as a less than ideal candidate.

As he did so, he referenced a barrage of deceptively edited “deep fake” videos in which he lambasted the aging president, at one point saying, “I mean, he might be number two in the polls, but he didn’t shit his pants.

In response to a clip showing the president appearing lost during that month’s D-Day anniversary celebrations, Maher exclaimed, “Everyone’s dancing and he’s not.” Good! He shouldn’t be dancing! He’s 82! You look like an idiot when you try to dance.”

When Cuomo and Maher then discussed the New York hush money case against the ex-president and how it should not have come forward, Maher emphasized that Trump’s election interference cases should have been prioritized.

“If only they had heard the one about the attempt to overthrow the United States government. That is the most important! He tried to overthrow the United States government! And we will never hear that,” Maher told the ex-governor of New York.

However, the comments appeared to stem from vitriol from Maher and guests Andrew Cuomo and ex-Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger, both of whom joined Maher in expressing their disapproval of Trump while on air.

“And good for you,” Cuomo responded, nearly three years after he resigned in disgrace following a barrage of sexual harassment allegations

Cuomo then gestured to Kinzinger — the man who sat on the House Select Committee to investigate the January 6 insurrection during his waning years in Congress — “for January 6.”

A devout Republican, Kinzinger distanced himself from Trump after the events of that day, and did so again on Friday.

“This is what drives me crazy – is when the Republican Party says it [Vladimir Putin] not invaded [Ukraine] below [Trump]the former representative said.

“It’s Ronald Reagan who said, ‘We can have peace, and we can have peace tomorrow. Surrender.

“And that’s what Donald Trump actually did,” he concluded, claiming the president is pandering to aggressive countries to “these people everything they wanted.

“He went to North Korea and wrote about love letters with Kim Jong Un,” he continued, describing how the conservative has touted himself as friendlier to the notorious dictator than his Democratic replacement.

So yes, they are coming together,” he said of the growing ties between countries like Russia and North Korea.

“But that is the result of a stronger US foreign policy.”

“Right,” Maher — who joked on air for a few weeks that Trump would be raped if he were ever sent to prison — replied.

The panel of Cuomo and Kinzinger also appeared to anger the Republican, although the former at one point appeared to suggest that the hush-money case against the former president in their home state of New York would never have started if he was not a candidate. for another term.

Moments earlier, however, Maher and Cuomo agreed that American citizens still deserve to see Trump stand trial for “attempting to overthrow the government of the United States” — a reference to his ongoing federal case for allegedly influencing the insurrection of January 6.

“If his name wasn’t Donald Trump, and if he wasn’t running for president… I’m the former AG in New York – I’m telling you that case would never have been filed…” Trump later quoted Cuomo as saying in another post at Truth Social, where he left out the earlier statement.

Maher, meanwhile, told his studio audience earlier this month: “Given the opportunity, it’s natural to want to introduce yourself [Trump] getting fucked in the a**’ – a claim that drew both laughter and gasps from the gallery.

He added that such jokes will now be made more often since the former president’s conviction for falsifying business records, telling the crowd: “With all the talk about Trump possibly going to jail, we have all done.

“I mean, come on, it’s Donald Trump!”

Meanwhile, as Maher said Friday, Trump remains ahead in most polls.

Trump was found guilty of falsifying business records to cover up “hush money” payments to porn star Stormy Daniels over their extramarital affair to prevent news of it from derailing his election campaign.

He is also accused of inciting the insurrection that took place outside the Capitol on January 6, while also facing cases in Georgia, an appeal in Manhattan over the sexual assault case involving E. Jean Carroll, a fraud case in New York and a DOJ investigation. in his removal of classified documents from the White House when he left office.

At the time of writing, they all remain up in the air with the general election just four months away.

Additionally, last month Maher compared Donald Trump to Garfield the cat — amid speculation about the former president's ability to pay a $454 million bill for his fraud case next week.

‘[Trump] is in a few lawsuits, and one of them is in New York, because he exaggerated his net worth, how much this property was worth,” the 68-year-old began, first explaining the situation surrounding the fraud case to his audience.

He continued, “There is a bond he has to pay on the $454 million fine and Trump has the weekend to come up with that.”

He then dropped the Garfield bomb, which has now gone viral, saying the former Commander in Chief is essentially “Garfield now.”

To cheers and cheers, Maher concluded: “He’s a fat orange p***y who hates Mondays.”
