Trump shooting task force obtains ‘gruesome autopsy’ for Thomas Crooks as details emerge of would-be assassin’s bizarre behavior in days before

The leader of the congressional committee investigating the attempted assassination of Donald Trump says the autopsy report for shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks is mouth-watering.

Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pennsylvania), the top Republican in charge of the investigation, told DailyMail.com that the report and its gruesome details were “horrifying.” However, he did not provide a timetable for the autopsy to be made public.

Kelly, who represents Butler, Pennsylvania, where the shooting occurred, has led several fact-finding trips to the fairgrounds where Trump spoke, seeking to uncover more details about the tragedy that left one person dead and several people, including the former president, injured.

On Tuesday, Kelly told DailyMail.com exclusively that the autopsy should not be viewed by those “who don’t have a strong stomach.”

While he admitted he had not fully studied the coroner’s report, he assured DailyMail.com that its contents were appalling.

“The autopsy, there’s a warning that goes with it,” Kelly continued. “It’s pretty graphic.”

He also noted that it is “very important” to remember the Crooks family as we consider the autopsy, and that they also “lost someone” that fateful day.

Kelly also revealed that the FBI told him Crooks was acting strangely before the shooting.

This included him ‘walking around the house talking to himself’ and ‘flailing his arms’, the newspaper Punchbowl first reported.

“There were indications that something was wrong,” the chairman said.

Former First Lady Melania Trump also still has unanswered questions in the shooting saga.

“The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, stressful experience,” Melania said in a video released Tuesday.

“Now the silence around it feels heavy. I can’t help but wonder why the police didn’t arrest the shooter before the speech. There is definitely more to this story. And we need to find out the truth,” she added.

The video was intended to promote her upcoming memoir, but the pointed comments about her husband’s near-death experience raised questions about whether she is satisfied with the investigation and response to the tragedy.

As information about the shooting slowly pours in, a new report reveals that a top Secret Service official has been asked to resign.

Office of Protective Operations Deputy Director Michael Plati has been asked by his bosses to retire, Fox News was first reported on Tuesday morning.

U.S. Congressman Mike Kelly (R-PA) speaks to the press along with other members of the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump after a tour of the shooting at the Butler Farm Show Grounds on August 26, 2024 in Butler, Pennsylvania.

It was indicated that Plati will terminate his employment with the agency within days.

Sources told the outlet the move is related to the agency’s performance during Trump’s July 13 shooting of Butler.

Plati was apparently asked to resign by top officials, including acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe, who previously testified before Congress about the assassination attempt.

The agency has reportedly scheduled another briefing for Congress in the coming days.

But a Secret Service spokesman told DailyMail.com that Plati is stepping down of his own accord.

“Deputy Director Plati was not asked by anyone to step down or retire. This was a personal decision he made and we thank him for his 27 years of dedicated service to the federal government,” the statement said.

Michael J. Plati is a member of the Senior Executive Service with more than 26 years of experience in federal law enforcement and homeland security. He served as the 24th assistant director of the Office of Protective Operations, where he led the global protection mission of the agency and its 3,000 employees.

The spokesperson also addressed the question of whether Plati would be called to testify before Congress.

“The US Secret Service respects the oversight role,” they said.

“We have made staff available for transcribed interviews and will continue to do so. To date, we have provided more than 2,400 pages of responsive documentation to Congress.”

“These efforts will continue because our determination to learn from this failure and ensure it never happens again remains undiminished,” the statement concluded.

The new revelations come as Congress continues to investigate the shooting and whistleblowers criticize the agency’s handling of the incident.

In August, a whistleblower told Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) that the top Secret Service agent in charge of Donald Trump’s deadly rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, was “inexperienced” and “failed to implement proper security protocols.”

The shocking testimony came from a whistleblower with direct knowledge of the event, Hawley said.

Hawley, concerned about the senior agent still making “protective visits” in early August, wrote to Secret Service Acting Director Ronald Rowe demanding that the “ineffective” senior agent be immediately suspended and investigated.

“Your refusal to hold this individual accountable becomes increasingly incomprehensible,” Hawley wrote in the letter to the Secret Service director.
