Donald Trump was irate after a dinner at his Mar-a-Lago estate with rapper Kanye West and white supremacist Nick Fuentes, a new report claims Tuesday.
Trump said Fox news on Tuesday that he did not know who Fuentes was, and distanced himself from his racism after being pleaded to do so by a growing number of fellow Republicans.
“I had never heard of the man – I had no idea what his views were, and they weren’t expressed at the table during our very quick dinner or it wouldn’t have been accepted,” he said.
Trump called the meeting “calm.”
In a video posted after the meeting, West — now known as Ye — said he told Trump he was considering running for president in 2024 and that the ex-president should be his running mate.
The former president, who announced his own bid for the White House two weeks ago, was “basically screaming,” the rapper said in his Twitter video titled “Mar-a-lago debrief.”
‘He tried to fuck me. He is crazy. He can’t beat me,” Trump told allies after dinner NBC news.
An adviser told the outlet that Trump was “totally blindsided” by the “setup” dinner.
Donald Trump on Tuesday distanced himself from the views of his white supremacist dinner guest Nick Fuentes, claiming he didn’t know them and if he did, they “would not have been accepted”
It has since sparked a deluge of criticism from both sides of the aisle. Both West and Fuentes have embraced anti-Semitic beliefs and other problematic comments.
Two people familiar with the dinner told NBC News that Trump was warned to exercise caution before accepting a meeting with West amid widespread backlash over anti-Semitic posts on Instagram and Twitter that have led to top sponsors such as Adidas, Gap and Balenciaga.
“This is a horrible nightmare,” said a longtime Trump adviser speaking anonymously after dinner.
Right-wing provocateur and former Marjorie Taylor Greene trainee Milo Yiannopoulos bragged to the outlet about setting up the rally “just to make Trump’s life miserable.”
“I wanted to show Trump what talent he lacks by letting his terrible handlers decide who he can and can’t hang out with,” Yiannopoulos said.
He now acts as an advisor to Ye’s 2024 campaign.
The former Breitbart editor also reportedly recruited former Trump 2016 adviser Karen Giorno to the meeting to give the group more credibility.
The fourth person with them was a parent from West’s Donda Academy, for reasons that are still unclear.
He was criticized for hosting Fuentes and Kanye West at his Mar-a-Lago resort last week
Fuentes, a right-wing provocateur, is a Holocaust denier and self-proclaimed incel
Giorno, like Trump, told NBC that she didn’t realize who Fuentes was until it was too late.
She reportedly realized that all three of her cohort were wearing jeans, which was against the country club dress code.
West was unaware of this beforehand, reportedly saying, “I doubt Nick will get in anyway.”
When Giorno heard Fuentes’ last name, she reportedly thought, “I’m going to kill Milo.”
Once at the club, the former Trump campaign aide said she tried to get West and Trump to talk while trying to get the rapper’s two companions to the bar — but Trump let West decide.
“I leave that to Ye. Do you want them to join in?’ she asked the ex-president.
He said he did.
“Let’s all eat,” West said.
