Trump says Kamala Harris ‘doesn’t like Jewish people’ and agrees with radio host calling her husband Doug Emhoff a ‘crappy Jew’
Former President Donald Trump claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris “doesn’t like Jewish people,” even though her husband, First Gentleman Doug Emhoff, is Jewish.
Trump was interviewed by WABC’s Sid Rosenberg and appeared to agree with the radio host, who called Emhoff a vile insult by calling him a “bad Jew.”
âYou see the contempt,â Trump said of Harris, her party’s presumptive nominee.
“Number one, she doesn’t like Israel. Number two, she doesn’t like Jewish people. You know it, I know it and everybody knows it and nobody wants to say it.”
The inflammatory comments came at a time of high tensions and military strikes between the Israeli military and Hezbollah, in a campaign in which the Biden administration has sparked protests over its military support for Israel.
Vice President Kamala Harris with her husband Doug Emhoff
Former President Donald Trump said Vice President Kamala Harris “doesn’t like Jewish people,” saying “yes” after an interviewer called her Jewish husband, Doug Emhoff, “a worthless Jew.”
Trump claimed that Harris “hates Jewish people,” despite her marriage to Emhoff. The comments drew sharp criticism from Harris’ campaign.
Rosenberg brought up Emhoff and said, “He’s Jewish, just like Bernie Sanders is Jewish. Are you kidding me?”
At that moment you hear Trump say, âYes.â
âHe’s a worthless Jew,â Rosenberg said.
âYes,â Trump said again.
Then Rosenberg added without further explanation: “He is a terrible Jew.”
The comments drew an immediate response from Harris’ campaign.
âAmerica is better than Donald Trumpâs fear, hatred and contemptible insults,â said James Singer, a spokesman for Harrisâ campaign.
“Vice President Harris believes that Americans want a president who unites our country instead of dividing it, who uses the power of the presidency to help families instead of hurting them, and who has a vision for our future instead of holding us back.”
Trump made the inflammatory comments in an interview with WABC
WASHINGTON, DC – APRIL 10: U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and Vice President Doug Emhoff arrive at the White House for a state banquet in Washington, DC on April 10, 2024.
Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung told DailyMail.com when asked about Rosenberg’s comments: “He clearly did not agree with that sentiment. Kamala has even stoked anti-Israel hatred on school campuses with her dangerous and divisive rhetoric.”
Trump made a similar claim about Harris’s distaste for Jewish people on Friday when he spoke to a Christian group at a Turning Point USA rally in Florida. He has also drawn criticism in the past for making similar comments about Jewish people, such as when he said in March that Jews who vote for Democrats âhate Israelâ and hate âtheir religion.â
Emhoff, the first Jewish person to be the spouse of a nationally elected U.S. leader, has been one of the most visible members of the Biden administration speaking out about combating anti-Semitism, hanging mezuzahs on the doorposts of the vice presidentâs residence and leading Passover celebrations at the White House.
Trump also attacked Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, who is Jewish.
‘Fifteen years ago you couldn’t say bad things [about Israel]you would be out of office. And today it’s almost like â I mean, Schumer has become a Palestinian. Chuck Schumer is now officially a Palestinian,” Trump said.
Harris’ campaign said in a statement: “Donald Trump is hateful, despicable, and should not be our president. He is against America. He insults America. Why would we want him in charge of America? Donald Trump thinks he can score points with Jewish voters by denigrating them. He is wrong.”
