Trump says his 2024 running mate could be one of his current opponents
Trump says his 2024 running mate could be a current opponent like Vivek Ramaswamy or Senator Tim Scott — and calls anti-vaxxer Democratic contender RFK Jr. a ‘very smart person’

Still the 2024 Republican frontrunner by far, Donald Trump said on Sunday he would consider some of his competitors as his running mate.
This would even make Democratic nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who called the ex-president a “very smart person” during an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that aired Sunday morning.
Trump said many of the people running in the 2024 presidential campaign are the ones he would consider adding to his general election ticket, and to fill his cabinet if he won another term.
In particular, Trump praised biotech millionaire Vivek Ramaswamy and Senator Tim Scott.

Trump named Democratic nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (pictured doing push-ups in a social media video) a “very smart person” in the interview – despite the longshot candidate receiving a ton of criticism for his controversial stances
“I think Vivek did a really good job, honestly. I think others have done well,” Trump said in his interview with the Sunday Morning Futures host.
Trump said “possibly” when asked to run with those in the 2024 field already.
“You actually have some good people on stage,” Trump told Bariromo. “I think you have some very talented people. am impressed with some of them. I’m actually very friendly with some of them.’
“I think you have good potential cabinet members as well,” added the former president and 2024 frontrunner.
Bartiromo specifically asked if Scott was among those with top talent.
“I think he’s a really good guy. We’ve done opportunity zones together,” Trump replied. “Tim is very good.”
“I mean I could see Tim doing something with the administration, but he’s campaigning right now, and I’m sure Tim and everyone else would say I’m only interested in one – but Tim is a very talented man and you have other very talented people.’
Speaking to Fox News on Tuesday, Sen. Scott said he’s not interested in discussing the potential of a VP candidate because there are still those who want him to run for president.
“There are those who want me to be No. 1, and so I’m going to continue this race for one goal — it’s to be the president of the United States,” Scott told Fox host Neil Cavuto. “I didn’t start this race to finish second. Second place is the first loser.’
It’s unlikely, but not excluded, that Trump will even defeat controversial longshot Democratic nominee RFK Jr. as a running mate.
“He’s a very smart person,” Trump told RFK Jr.’s Bartiromo. “I know a lot of the members of that family, and he’s a very smart guy. And he hit a nerve. And many Democrats I know want to vote for him.”

The Democrat has received attention for his controversial stances, including most recently the claim that COVID-19 was “ethnically targeting … certain races disproportionately.”
Specifically, he said that Jewish people were intentionally not as affected by the pandemic.
“COVID-19 is disproportionately attacking certain races,” Kennedy said in a video obtained by the New York Post. “COVID-19 is designed to attack white people and black people. The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese.’
Since launching his campaign in mid-November, Trump has consistently had a commanding lead in national Republican primaries.
The Iowa primary is about six months away, and the first debate — which Trump may not even attend — is August 23 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
