- The former president recently criticized Harris for repeating his ideas
- She copied Trump’s ideas on border security and tipped workers’ wages
- “I wanted to send her a MAGA hat. She’s come around to my philosophies,” Trump said
Donald Trump joked that Kamala Harris steals his policy proposals so often that he should send the vice president a MAGA hat to their first debate.
The former president has recently attacked Harris for reiterating his ideas on border security and eliminating the tax on tipped workers’ wages.
Trump began listing failed Democratic policies during the ABC News debate, indicating that he wasn’t talking about Harris because “she has no policies. Everything she believed and believes four years ago has been thrown out the window.”
“She’s going to my philosophy now,” he continued. “I was actually going to send her a MAGA hat. She’s gone to my philosophies.”
It is reminiscent of a statement Trump made earlier this week at the Economic Club of New York on September 5.

Harris revealed she copied key Trump policies during a rally in Las Vegas in July.
She told attendees that her government will abolish the “tax on tips for hospitality and utility workers.”
The announcement was met with great applause.
Trump himself attacked Kamala in a post on Truth Social, asking, “How long before Kamala Harris comes up with a new “TRUMP” policy like, “Our seniors receiving Social Security don’t have to pay taxes?”
“She looks really bad now! Everyone is waiting to see what idea or policy of mine she will copy next.”
And Trump’s team was quick to point out that Harris’ idea is unoriginal, even claiming she lied about her promise to implement it.
“Kamala just announced that she is stealing President Trump’s proposal to pass ‘ZERO TICKET TAX,’” a spokesperson posted on X.
“But as with everything she says, it is a purely political calculation that she will never make, but President Trump WILL.”

Trump’s proposal was cheered by both liberals and conservatives.
Democrats traditionally prioritize raising the minimum wage over protecting tips.
They say their policies ensure that working-class voters can achieve an acceptable standard of living.
Critics argue that the policy is driving up prices and exacerbating inflation, which is hitting lower-wage earners particularly hard.
On Saturday, Harris was seen watching her White House presidential candidate park her tanks on Trump’s lawn.
Harris touted her reputation as a former McDonald’s worker during her protest and received loud applause when she mentioned the name of a local hospitality union.
Many hospitality and service workers rely on tips to pay their bills, and Team Trump believes this policy can help him gain traction among working-class and blue-collar voters.
Trump has been praised for helping transform the GOP from a party of the wealthy to one that serves the interests of the working class and middle class.
