Donald Trump went after comedian Bill Maher on Saturday night for his comments last weekend claiming that the FBI’s unannounced search of Mar-a-Lago gave the former president a much-needed boost in support.

Trump also aimed the heat at Fox News, seemingly for covering the late night host’s comments on ‘Real Time With Bill Maher’ – where he regularly goes after both Democrats and Republicans.

‘Every time low ratings dummy Bill Maher has anything nasty to say about your favorite President, me, Fox finds a way to put him on, usually sandwiched in between really bad anti-Trump ads,’ the former president fumed on his app Truth Social.

‘Maher is a loser, and MAGA gets it – but Fox doesn’t.’

Trump continued, ‘He said I was fortunate to have my home broken into because it was good for my polls. Wrong, it was an assault on liberty, and very bad for our Country, which is incredibly angry right now…’

‘And no, I was, and am, leading everybody in the POLLS – BY A LOT!!!’ he finished.

On his regular Friday night show last week, Maher said the raid was ‘saving Trump politically’ – and doomed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is widely speculated to be a potential 2024 contender along with the former president.

Neither have formally declared they are running. DeSantis has not shut the door on the matter when asked before, while Trump has dropped consistent hints that he’s going to make another White House bid.

‘His fortune was finally falling. The Big Lie was finally losing momentum. DeSantis was beating him in the polls – you know who hates this more than anybody? DeSantis,’ Maher said.

Speculating about what the Florida Republican was thinking, Maher continued: ‘I had this in the bag, and now I gotta run against President Martyr.’

‘And this is saving Trump politically because now, of course, all the Republicans – what do they do?’ he added.

Maher jabbed at Trump again on his most recently-taped show, which aired Friday last week.

The comedian was pointing out that Trump-backed candidates have been relatively successful in their primaries, the majority besting more establishment Republican figures.

‘Say what you want about Mr. Evil, but boy, what a politician. I mean, that’s impressive – in an evil way, but still, impressive,’ Maher said.

And while Trump denied that the raid had any effect on his polling numbers, the ex-president also shared a DailyMail.com article on Saturday night that showed him getting a decent boost in one recent survey amid the Mar-a-Lago fallout.

The Politico/Morning Consult poll shows support for the ex-president going up by four points among Republican primary voters, from 53 percent in mid-July to 57 percent on August 10.

Meanwhile DeSantis, whose 2024 support has caught up to and even exceeded Trump’s in several early battleground state polls, saw his share of likely voters drop from 23 percent to 17 percent.

The August 10 poll was conducted two days after the FBI’s unannounced search of Mar-a-Lago but before the warrant federal officials used was unsealed.
