Trump reveals the real reason he thinks Biden won’t drop out and says First Lady Jill is ‘having a good time’ while her husband publicly flounders
Donald Trump thinks President Joe Biden won’t leave office in November because he has too much ego to end his re-election campaign and that First Lady Jill Biden is having too much “fun” in the White House to want to leave.
As lawmakers, donors, strategists and members of the Democratic Party increasingly call for Biden to withdraw from the race, the president has reiterated that he will not withdraw.
Now the former president is weighing in on the future of his rival’s campaign, claiming he will not bow to pressure to withdraw.
“It looks like he could very well stay,” Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity during his first interview since much of the Democratic Party turned against Biden.
Donald Trump predicts rival Joe Biden will stay in 2024 race because his ‘ego’ is too big to back out
“He’s got an ego and he doesn’t want to give up,” the presumptive Republican nominee added in the phone interview Monday night. “He doesn’t want to do that … nobody wants to give up like that. He’s going to feel bad about himself for a long time.”
Over the past 10 days, Democrats have increasingly come forward calling on the 81-year-old president to end his re-election campaign. But it appears that so far, those demands have fallen on deaf ears.
Trump also claims Jill is having a “fun time” as first lady, while her husband publicly regresses after his performance at a car crash debate on June 27.
Multiple post-debate reports indicate that Biden sought advice from the first lady and other family members about whether to seek re-election after he botched the debate and botched an interview with ABC News to clean things up.
“I think Jill would like him to stay, she’s enjoying it,” Trump speculated to Hannity. “I’ve noticed she seems to really enjoy it.”
Asked whether Trump cares whether Biden stays in the race or steps aside, the former president replied, “Well, we were prepared for him, but I don’t think it matters.”
Trump also said First Lady Jill Biden is “having a good time” and does not want to leave the White House despite her husband’s very public decline.
Democrats who want Biden out say he should be replaced by Vice President Kamala Harris. Asked if Trump would mind if Biden stayed in the race, the former president said: ‘Well, we’ve been preparing for him, but I don’t think it matters’
Democratic lawmakers who want Biden gone argue that he should be replaced on the ballot by Vice President Kamala Harris.
But Trump says it’s too late to get another candidate on the Democratic ticket and claims Biden can’t possibly step aside voluntarily.
“He has all the power, he has the delegates,” Trump said, referring to the fact that Biden faced virtually no opposition in his primaries and has the delegates to become the nominee.
Trump added: “There’s nothing they can do to get him out.”
