Trump offers Rep. Elise Stefanik role of US ambassador to the United Nations
President-elect Donald Trump has offered the role of US ambassador to the United Nations to Elise Stefanik.
The House Republican and ally of the president accepted the UN action after it was offered on Sunday. according to The New York Post.
“I am honored to nominate President Elise Stefanik to serve in my Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Elise is an incredibly strong, tough and smart America First fighter,” Trump told the newspaper.
The move to elect Stefanik seemed a slight to Haley, who did not appear for him on the campaign trail despite repeatedly claiming she was on “standby.”
Stefanik had appeared at Trump’s now infamous rally at Madison Square Garden last month as the race for the White House intensified.

The New York representative accepted the role previously held by Haley, who ran against Trump during the Republican primaries.
“I am truly honored to earn President Trump’s nomination to serve in his Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations,” Stefanik told The Post.
In recent years, Stefanik, the highest-ranking Republican woman in the House of Representatives, has been one of his closest allies.
Earlier this year, she filed a misconduct complaint against the judge who oversaw his hush-money trial, claiming his selection “was not random at all.”

Stefanik had called for an investigation into Judge Juan Merchan to “determine whether the required random selection process was in fact followed.”
She has alleged that Merchan, who she claims is a Democratic Party donor, has been repeatedly assigned to criminal cases related to Trump and his allies.
In a follow-up letter in September, she said that “new information has come to light that warrants a fresh look at Judge Merchan’s conflict.”
The new complaint alleged that Merchan should recuse himself from the case because his daughter, Lauren Merchan, is the president of a company that paid for Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign and thus stands to benefit from the lawsuit.
She specifically highlights how new Federal Election Commission (FEC) documents reveal that Lauren Merchan’s company, Authentic Campaigns Inc., received $468 from Harris’ campaign for web hosting services.
Trump was found guilty of all 34 charges in the landmark criminal trial, with Merchan expected to decide this week whether Trump’s conviction should be overturned in light of the Supreme Court’s July ruling on presidential immunity.
Merchan must also decide whether to go ahead with Trump’s sentencing on November 26, as currently scheduled.
Donald Trump has announced that Susie Wiles will become his White House chief of staff
A favorable ruling from Trump on the immunity issue or a stay of sentencing would clear the way for him to return to the White House, largely unhindered by what once seemed to threaten his ambitions to reclaim the White House.
It comes after Trump announced Susie Wiles would become his White House chief of staff.
The “Ice Baby,” as she is nicknamed, will become the first female chief of staff in American history.
The 67-year-old led the campaign that propelled him to a historic election victory over Democrat Kamala Harris on Tuesday evening.
Wiles led his race behind the scenes and is one of the most feared and effective political operatives in the country.
Haley was a brutally honest critic of the former president, even after his MSG meeting that she predicted would “make women uncomfortable”
The top aide appeared next to him as he joined his family and staff in declaring victory over Kamala Harris in West Palm Beach, Florida, last week.
Trump had previously said in a message to Truth Social that Haley and former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would not be part of his second administration.
He added: “I really enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our country.”

She was the last woman to oppose Trump in the primaries and announced at the end of May that she would vote for him.
