Trump niece Mary hilariously mocks former president for ‘repeatedly falling asleep’ during hush money trial and claims ‘narcolepsy runs in the family’
Mary, the niece of former President Donald Trump, became the latest liberal to mock her uncle’s appearance at the trial last week, where he was accused by a reporter of falling asleep.
The former president is said to have fallen asleep several times during jury selection in his hush-money criminal case in New York on Monday.
His team vehemently denies the claims, saying his eyes may have been closed because ‘he reads a lot’, but one expert has cited his diet as a possible reason.
Mary Trump, the president’s liberal niece who is often viciously critical of her uncle, joined those media in a radio program on Saturday.
After joking with SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah that she was “a little sleepy” before appearing on his show, she then joked that she was “a little concerned that narcolepsy runs in the family.”

As Obeidallah probed further into the former president’s apparent lethargy, his niece suggested the trial could get to him.
“I don’t think we can underestimate the extent of the narcissistic injury he is suffering,” she said.
“First, he’s in a situation where he has no control and, worse, he’s under someone else’s control. There’s someone else in that room with all the authority, and he has none.”
She added that between the rumors that he was sleeping and the revelation of the potential jurors’ posts about him on social media, she had to make fun of her uncle because he is “so mean to other people.”
Mary Trump added that the trial is something he has “probably been dreading for five and a half decades.”
“So part of him was probably always terrified that it would happen, but he also probably never believed that this would happen because he always gets away with everything. And here we are. And believe me, he understands how serious this is.”
Trump – who often calls President Biden “Sleepy Joe” – appeared fatigued in court and was seen by several reporters as having fallen asleep in his chair at the start of his criminal trial, where he faces 34 felony charges related to falsifying company details to cover up a feud with a porn star.
After the lunch break, he again closed his eyes several times and seemed to fall asleep, causing his posture to stiffen.

Taking a nap at the courthouse? The ex-president had red eyes on Monday as he attended jury selection during his hush-money trial at Manhattan Central Court in New York.
“Trump appears to be sleeping,” New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman tweeted from the room and repeated on CNN.
‘His head keeps dropping down and his mouth hangs slack.’
The claim sparked a wave of hashtags on social media and was picked up by the Biden/Harris campaign – but was angrily denied by Team Trump.
“This is 100% fake news, coming from ‘journalists’ who were not even in the courtroom,” they said in a statement.
Biden’s campaign team reportedly issued a news release on polling titled “Wake Up Donald: After Stormy Abortion Ban Coverage, Trump Poll Memo Attempts to Hush Panic.”
There was even less restraint on social media, where hashtags like “DonSnoreleone,” “The Nodfather” and “Sleepy Don” quickly went viral.
The former president appeared to have mild pink eye in photos taken in court, but most reporters claimed Trump remained focused the entire time.

New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman repeated the hotly contested claim on CNN
“Donald Trump sat stiff-faced, his eyes narrowed and his lips pursed as his lawyers battled with prosecutors over how many salacious (and untrue) headlines from the National Enquirer could be shown to jurors and whether they could hear him say : ‘grab them by the p**’ ***s’ or that they could only read transcripts of the famous Access Hollywood tape,’ reported Rob Crilly of DailyMail.com.
“Trump dominated the space among his legal team.
“He leaned back in his chair or moved forward to watch a video screen, like a silverback gorilla reminding the courtroom who was boss.
‘When a decision went against him – as when Judge Juan Merchan ruled that he would not blame himself – he would briefly express his frustration and nod angrily.
‘But at other times he gave the impression of a legal scholar: his eyebrows furrowed and his head tilted, as if he were considering the judge’s ruling on the admission of Molineux evidence.’
Dr. Chris Winter, a neurologist from Virginia, told DailyMail.com that Trump may have been struggling due to a lack of caffeine – not having access to his beloved Diet Coke.
Trump is said to drink up to twelve cans of the stuff every day – which provides about as much caffeine as four 12-ounce cups of coffee.
The case centers on a $130,000 payment that Trump’s lawyer and personal fixer, Michael Cohen, made to porn actor Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 election to prevent her claims about a sexual encounter with Trump from becoming public.

The case centers on a $130,000 payment that Trump’s lawyer and personal fixer, Michael Cohen, made to porn actor Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 election.
Prosecutors say Trump covered up the true nature of the payments in internal records when his company reimbursed Cohen, who pleaded guilty to federal charges in 2018 and is expected to be a key witness for the prosecution.
Trump has denied having a sexual encounter with Daniels, and his lawyers argue that the payments to Cohen were legitimate legal fees.
Trump faces 34 felony counts of falsifying corporate records and has pleaded not guilty.
If convicted, he could face up to four years in prison, although it is not clear whether the judge would choose to put him behind bars.
