Trump taped an interview with Newsmax’s Greg Kelly on Monday and was asked again if he believed Biden, 80, would be the Democratic nominee.
The former president, who is running for the 2024 GOP nomination, speculated that would not be the case, saying “it seems to me something will happen somewhere down the line.”
“It seems hard to believe,” Trump said. “And I’m not speaking for any point of view other than that I looked at him the way everyone else looks at him and it certainly seems hard to believe.”
“It seemed hard to believe four years ago, but he was in the basement and now they’re recording a tape of the announcement,” Trump continued. “He’s not going to make the announcement…but he’s recording a tape. This way he can do it four or five times so that he gets it right.”

On Thursday, The Washington Post reported that the 2024 Biden campaign would kick off Tuesday by releasing a video.
The date was chosen because Biden had announced his successful bid for 2020 exactly four years earlier: on April 25, 2019.
The president would not confirm the timing when reporters asked him about it at the White House on Monday.
“I told you I’m planning on running,” the president said as he left an event in the White House Rose Garden. “I’ll let you know when soon.”
Trump started the 2024 presidential cycle historically early by announcing his own bid on November 15, just a week after the 2022 midterm races.
He did this by holding an event and giving a speech at his Mar-a-Lago Florida home and club.
“I don’t think anything like that has ever been done, to put it on tape,” Trump said on Newsmax.

But announcing via video is common for presidential campaigns, with a candidate usually hitting the campaign trail several days later.
Both Senator Tim Scott and former UN ambassador. Nikki Haley previewed their presidential aspirations by releasing videos earlier this year.
Biden announced this via video in April 2019 before holding his first rally several days later in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Trump’s “basement” comment comes because Biden was much more cautious about COVID than Trump during their 2020 campaigns.
Biden filmed a number of campaign videos from his Delaware basement and held socially distanced drive-in events where a limited number of supporters could attend in their vehicles.
