Trump leads Biden by FOUR POINTS: Daily Mail poll shows president still trailing his 2024 Republican rival despite multiple visits to swing states, while Donald faces his legal nightmares

Donald Trump maintains a four-point lead in the latest JL Partners/DailyMail.com 2024 survey released Thursday, indicating that the surge in campaign travel and President Joe Biden’s powerful State of the Union address has failed to win over voters.

It means the former president’s lead has remained unchanged since December.

When a thousand likely voters were asked who they would choose if the election were held tomorrow, 39 percent said they would be Biden and 43 percent said they would choose Trump.

With a margin of error of 3.1 points, this suggests the election will go down to the wire and could be decided by just a few thousand voters in swing states.

Both candidates secured their party’s presumptive nominations on the same day: March 12.

JL Partners surveyed 1,000 likely voters from March 20 to 24 via landline, mobile phone, text message and apps. The results have a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percent

And both saw their overall share of the vote increase by three points since December.

But positive headlines about Biden’s State of the Union address — one of the biggest political events of the year — and a recent wave of campaign travel have yet to translate into better polling.

He visited Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan this month.

Pollster James Johnson, co-founder of JL Partners, said the State of the Union may have satisfied Beltway commentators, but there is little sign it swayed voters.

While he has a more favorable opinion among those who already voted for him, few have changed their minds since our last poll and Trump remains on track to win the popular vote,” he said.

“A lot could change, but a combination of a disastrous Biden brand, positive memories of the Trump administration, the dominance of the border issue and lawsuits that only ensure that damaging Trump’s support means Trump comes out ahead remains as we enter the second quarter of 2010. the year.’

Trump overtook Biden in our election poll last September and has maintained a steady lead since.

Biden won plaudits earlier this month with a combative State of the Union address, when he referred to “my predecessor” 13 times without ever using Trump’s name.

He attacked Russia, reproductive rights, affordable health care, the border crisis, gun control, the Jan. 6 attack and his handling of the pandemic in an effort to remind people of the turbulence of the Trump years.

The latest poll shows Biden gaining momentum, but that has so far been offset by a three-point increase for Trump.

Biden has sought to build on the speech by touring the crucial swing states that will decide the election.

He was in North Carolina on Tuesday to announce his administration’s work on health care and on Thursday he will travel to New York, where he will join former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama in tapping the city’s wealthy donors.

In contrast, Trump is fighting multiple criminal and civil lawsuits and has struggled to find time for a conventional campaign.

When he hasn’t been sitting with lawyers at his Mar-a-Lago home or playing golf, he’s been in the courtroom.

On Monday he was in New York to hear that a trial stemming from hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels will begin on April 15. Trump has pleaded not guilty to charges that he falsified business records related to $130,000 refunds.

He faces three other sets of criminal charges, but polls show this has not dented his appeal across half the country. It might even have helped his case.

“Well, it might make me more popular too,” he told reporters when asked if he was concerned about the impact of a conviction on the election, “because people know it’s a scam.”

Meanwhile, the general election battle has come into sharper focus since both candidates became their parties’ presumptive nominees.

The share of voters who say they are undecided or would vote for someone else has fallen from 19 percent to eight percent.

And that has boosted Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s independent candidacy, which has risen from four percent to seven percent, making him a potential spoiler in November.

The poll shows that he receives more support from Biden than from Trump.
