Trump leads Biden by 18 POINTS in key state… in sign Joe could lead Democrats to their worst loss in 100 years
Former President Donald Trump has grabbed a commanding lead over President Biden in Iowa, according to a new poll.
Trump has a 50 to 32 percent lead over Biden in the state, according to a state survey Des Moines Register/Mediacom.
If Biden gets the same paltry 32 percent of the vote in Iowa in November, so be it would the worst democratic performance in a state since the 1924 general election – exactly a century ago.
Since then, no Democrat has received less than 40 percent of the vote since Jimmy Carter’s 1980 matchup with Ronald Reagan, where he scored 38.6 percent.
Support for Trump in Iowa comes after a Manhattan jury found him guilty of falsifying company records in the Stormy Daniels case.
His conviction clearly does not deter potential voters and may even help him.
President Joe Biden gets just 32 percent in a new Des Moines Register poll in Iowa
One Iowa voter, Donald Share, 63, told the Des Moines Register that he is voting decisively for Trump because of his criminal conviction.
“His convictions on these charges are part of the reason I reached this decision,” Share said.
‘The more they try to get him out of the picture, the stronger they make him. I, for one, believe the allegations are false.”
Trump’s lead was 48-33 in February, indicating that the president’s support in Iowa has increased since he was found guilty on 34 counts weeks ago.
Trump won the state 53-45 in 2020, and his campaign is confident they will dominate again in a few months.
The result comes on a day when Biden got a boost in a separate Marist/PBS/NPR poll coming days before he was set to debate Trump in Atlanta. The national poll showed the two candidates tied at 49 percent.
This election cycle already contains data that shows Trump reversing historical trends and gaining record support among black voters.
Biden is also struggling with young voters and Hispanic voters who formed a key part of his coalition, even as he takes new executive actions to wipe out student loan debt and provide new paths to citizenship for people who came here illegally.
Among Biden’s supporters, 81 percent in Iowa say they have made up their minds, indicating he is locking up at least many of his supporters.
His approval rating in Iowa is just 28 percent, with 67 percent disapproval.

Pollster Ann Selzer noted that the numbers were moving in a direction that is “consistently downward” for Biden.
The most recent time a Democrat won Iowa in November was 2012, when Biden was tied with President Barack Obama. They also won this in 2008.
Trump won an outright majority there both times he was on the ballot.
