Trump lawyer Alina Habba explains why Hunter Biden’s pardon is NOT the most important issue for Joe’s White House
Alina Habba is outraged by President Joe Biden’s hypocrisy and accused him of using his son Hunter as a “sacrificial lamb.”
Habba, who rose to fame as a lawyer for Donald Trump, responded after the president announced Sunday evening that he would pardon Hunter Biden, 54, of his three felony charges and potentially spare him prison time.
She said that not only has Biden been lying for years about his intention to pardon his son, but the Justice Department is simultaneously denying prisoners and Jan. 6 defendants the right to a fair trial.
“The problem here is not just the pardon itself, it’s the blatant hypocrisy,” Habba told DailyMail.com.
She continued. “The White House repeatedly assured the American people that this would never happen, and tripled its pre-election promises. They lied.’
“Meanwhile, on January 6, the defendants languish in solitary confinement, denied a fair trial for years and treated as enemies of the state,” Habba complained.
With the announcement this weekend, Trump is now suggesting he will take steps to pardon all those jailed, convicted or prosecuted in connection with January 6.
The president-elect signaled Sunday night that he plans to use Biden’s pardon to his own advantage, writing: “Does Joe’s pardon for Hunter include the J-6 hostages, who have been held captive for years now? to sit? What an abuse and miscarriage of justice!’
Alina Habba, Donald Trump’s attack dog lawyer turned campaign aide, told DailyMail.com that the Biden White House has a serious hypocrisy problem
Karine Jean-Pierre repeatedly said the president felt the system was unfairly applied and politicized against his son because his last name is Biden, claiming he was “struggling” with the decision.
Many in Trump’s circles, including Habba, have been vocal in their support for the release, commutation and pardons of those involved in the January 6, 2021 Capital Riot, claiming they were being unfairly prosecuted for exercising their First Amendment rights.
But many have ended up in prison over the past four years or faced lengthy prosecution by Biden’s DOJ.
Reporters traveling with the president on Monday asked his press secretary how Americans can feel the justice system is fair if they don’t have the president as a father to erase their crimes.
Hunter was convicted on June 11, 2024, of three counts of lying about his drug use on a federal form to purchase a firearm.
Sentencing was initially scheduled for November 13. On September 19, a judge granted a request from Hunter’s team to delay sentencing until December 4 — but just three days before that, Biden pardoned his son, potentially sparing him jail time.
“Hunter Biden is not a victim,” Habba emphasized. “His lenient treatment compared to the harsh sentences others face underscores the glaring double standard in our justice system.”
“Forgive those who deserve it,” she demanded. “Not the child you turned into a sacrificial lamb to make it look like you weren’t targeting President Trump.”
President Joe Biden announced Sunday that he would pardon his son Hunter Biden, 54, for three crimes related to the 2018 gun purchase.
Trump’s lawyer-turned-campaign aide also posted a 20-second clip to her
“What a joke,” she wrote, claiming that the NYT “doesn’t mention anywhere on the front page that Hunter was pardoned for ten years of shenanigans after insisting it would never happen.”
“Fake News,” Habba said in the video as he showed images from the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal, both with front-page or above-the-fold stories about the pardons.
Biden said for years — both before and after the conviction — that he would not pardon his son.
The president went back on his word on Sunday when he announced the pardon just hours before he left for Africa.
