Trump ‘is eyeing NY Rep. Elise Stefanik as potential vice presidential running mate’ after ‘being impressed with her killer performance’ at Ivy League anti-Semitism hearings

Former President Donald Trump is reportedly eyeing Rep. Elise Stefanik for an all-New York ticket to run against President Joe Biden if he wins the Republican nomination.

Stefanik, a longtime Trump supporter and the first member of the GOP leadership to back his 2024 campaign, has recently drawn attention for her criticism of Ivy League presidents during hearings on campus anti-Semitism.

The hearings made national headlines and most notably forced the resignation of Harvard President Claudine Gay.

According to several people who attended a dinner at Mar-a-Lago in late December, Trump was very impressed.

“She’s a killer,” Trump reportedly said when Stefanik was mentioned when asking attendees at a candlelight dinner who his running mate should be.

Citing eight different sources familiar with the dinner: CNBC reported that Trump and his Stefanik team have taken a closer look at the VP nod.

“Stefanik is at the top,” said longtime Trump supporter and 2016 chief strategist Steve Bannon.

Trump has reportedly viewed Stefanik as a rising star because of her loyalty in the wake of his disowning of former Vice President Mike Pence.

“If you’re Trump, you want someone who is loyal above all else,” said one Republican aide. “Especially because he thinks Mike Pence has committed a fatal sin.”

Stefanik is campaigning with Trump ahead of Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary but declined to comment on the vice-presidential position.

In a recent Meet the Press interview, she certainly didn’t say no.

“Well, I would obviously be honored to serve in any capacity in a Trump administration,” Stefanik said.

Her loyalty to Trump has been unquestionable, to the point that she is facing censure from Congress for comparing the January 6 detainees to “hostages.”

But her star has risen since the infamous hearings.

Stefanik had put liberal university presidents first by asking them whether “calling for the genocide of Jews” would violate their schools’ codes of conduct.

She asked Harvard President Claudine Gay directly whether “calling for the genocide of Jews violates Harvard’s rules on bullying and harassment? Yes or no.’

“It may depend on the context,” Gay replied. Gay and former UPenn president Liz Magill was subsequently removed from her job.

Stefanik became the first member of the Republican leadership to express her support for Donald Trump’s re-election bid, before the former president himself had even formally announced a run for office.

“Republican voters determine who is the leader of the Republican Party and it is very clear that President Trump is the leader of the Republican Party,” Stefanik said in a statement.

“I am proud to support Donald J. Trump for president in 2024. I fully support him should he run again,” the New York Republican said.

Trump spent Tuesday evening with businessman and former rival Vivek Ramaswamy in New Hampshire.

After Ramaswamy promised in November to help him defeat President Joe Biden, Trump seemed to suggest the tech entrepreneur could do a lot for his campaign.

“He’s going to work with us and he’s going to work with us for a long time,” Trump said, as many in the crowd chanted for Ramaswamy to be the vice presidential nominee.

“He’s a great guy,” Trump said. “He has something very special because he started with a zippo and finished very strong.”

‘He did a great job. I was actually surprised when he called because he was doing well. And it’s an honor to have his support,” Trump added.

Ramaswamy, 38, a charismatic multimillionaire, finished a distant fourth in the Iowa caucuses, the country’s first contest of 2024, behind Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.

On Monday evening, Trump complimented Ramaswamy during his victory celebration.

“I would also like to congratulate Vivek for doing a great job. He came from scratch…that’s a great job,” Trump said.

Later, Trump praised Ramaswamy on Truth Social for supporting him.

‘Thank you Vivek, a great honor!’ said the ex-president and 2024 frontrunner.
