Former President Donald Trump labeled prosecutor Jack Smith a “deranged lunatic” after the judge in his election interference case released more evidence of the allegations against him.

The 1,900-page dossier included how the then-president drank soda while watching a mob of his supporters ransack the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, as well as descriptions of his conversations with family members and aides.

Trump said the decision to release the information now, just two weeks before Election Day, amounted to election interference.

“He’s a deranged lunatic,” Trump told reporters after landing in Detroit for a campaign event, pointing out that Smith had failed to prosecute him over documents found at Mar-a-Lago, after the case was dismissed by a judge in July. .

‘There is no case. I did absolutely nothing wrong. He is a disturbed person.

‘Do you know what it is? That’s called election hunting. That’s all they do. Election hunt.

‘The arming of the legal system and the people are sensible about this. Nothing was released. Nothing has been released.”

Many of the published pages were whitened out and marked “sealed,” but they also contained material referenced in a massive lawsuit from earlier this month, in which the special counsel argued that Trump was not immune from charges in the case.

The unsealed files contain details of interviews conducted by the congressional investigation into the January 6 violence.

Names of witnesses were blacked out.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to four criminal charges accusing him of conspiring to obstruct the process of certifying the results of his 2020 defeat of Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

His lawyers had argued that none of the material should be released before the Nov. 5 election and successfully delayed its release for a week.

The evidence released offers insight into how Smith prosecutes Trump.

The pages contain a transcript of the House committee’s Jan. 6 interview with a White House aide.

It describes how the aide told Trump that TV networks had dropped his speech because of “riots at the Capitol.”

‘And he was like, what do you mean? I said, ‘It looks like there’s a riot there in the Capitol,'” the employee said.

“And he was like, oh, really? And then he said, OK, let’s go see.

“I take off the top coat he’s wearing now, set up the TV for him and hand him the remote, and he starts watching it.

And I got out to get him a Diet Coke and came back in, and that was about it for me as he looked at it and saw it with his own eyes.”

The release infuriated Trump aides.

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said: “Radical Democrats are determined to interfere in the presidential election on behalf of Lyin’ Kamala Harris. With just over two weeks until Election Day, President Trump is dominating this race and crazy liberals across the Deep State are panicking.

“As mandated by the Supreme Court’s landmark decision on presidential immunity and other key case law, this entire case is a sham and a partisan, unconstitutional witch hunt that must be rejected in its entirety – as should ALL remaining Democratic hoaxes.”
