Trump family member who’s also trusted aide delivers shocking news to ex-president about his 2024 campaign… as he mulls bringing back 2016 icon
Lara Trump warned her father-in-law Donald that an election victory against the Democrats is no longer a foregone conclusion – with Kellyanne Conway returning to the ranks.
Trump’s daughter-in-law, who also co-chairs the RNC, held a rally over the weekend in which she described the race between him and Kamala Harris as a coin toss.
Lara Trump reportedly gave Donald “the hard facts” just one day after the ex-president had a reunion with the 57-year-old Conway.
Conway was the first woman to ever run a presidential campaign and was one of Trump’s most ardent advocates on the trail and in the White House before leaving in August 2020.
Trump’s 2024 campaign has suffered three blows from the public reception of vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance, the “honeymoon” Harris is experiencing as she enters the race and a similar effect on her choice of running mate Tim Walz.
Donald Trump has been warned the election is effectively a toss-up as he considers bringing back adviser Kellyanne Conway with the support of his wife Melania
What first looked like a coronation for Trump to return to the White House at the expense of Joe Biden has now turned into a neck-and-neck race, with Harris starting to take a lead in the polls.
Conway’s role is not specified, but she will work closely with campaign manager Susie Wiles, who currently runs the show with Chris LaCivita.
Now Trump and two of his closest allies — Lara and his wife Melania — are backing him in an effort to get Conway to come to his aid.
There are those close to Trump who are convinced that Donald will listen to women he sees as powerful, including Conway.
“Does Trump listen to Kellyanne? Does he accept input from women more readily? Yes, more than from men,” one adviser said
‘Ironically, he likes strong women. If you are a sharp woman, he will listen to you. Hope [Hicks] and these people could tell him the hardest shit. He may not have done anything, but at least he’s listening.’
A source said Wiles and LaCivita – who are running a national campaign for the first time – have admitted changes are needed.
“I think Chris and Susie have come to terms with the fact that there’s been a big shift — we have a new candidate and a new VP — and that we have to shift as well. They’re both in a place where they’re OK with it.”

Still, not everyone in Trumpworld is happy about it, even those closest to JD Vance, Trump’s vice presidential nominee.
Conway wanted Trump to select Florida Senator Marco Rubio to join him on the ticket, while Vance was pushed by Trump’s sons Don Jr. and Eric, who is himself married to Lara Trump.
Conway and Vance are said to have spoken by phone in an attempt to make peace.
Other issues include Conway registering as a foreign agent for a Ukrainian oligarch and her position at the RNC.
Puck described the chances of Conway joining Trump’s campaign as 50-50, given her various jobs, including co-hosting a podcast with her current adviser Harris.
“We’re too busy winning the election — something we’ve been doing for 21 months — and helping President Trump save this country,” said Steven Cheung, Trump’s spokesman.
“We do not respond to anonymous sources or fabricated quotes.”
Conway was one of Trump’s longest-serving advisers when she left the White House in 2020, a day after her then-15-year-old daughter Claudia said in a series of tweets that she was “officially pushing for emancipation” from her parents.

In 2016, she was Trump’s third campaign manager and the first woman to successfully lead a presidential campaign to victory.
She joined the White House early in Trump’s term and has been one of his most visible and outspoken defenders.
Conway, a veteran Republican pollster, is often mocked for her unyielding defense of the president and his team.
Shortly after the inauguration, Sean Spicer, then-press secretary, spoke of the crowds at the inauguration: “This was the largest crowd that has ever attended an inauguration, period.”
Conway said he was providing “alternative facts.”
In June 2019, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, which oversees human resources at the federal level, issued a scathing report describing Conway as “a repeat offender” for violating rules related to the Hatch Act, a law that prohibits executive branch employees from engaging in political activity while performing their official duties.
In March 2018, the ethics office found that Conway had twice violated the law in interviews about the Alabama Senate race. The OSC subsequently issued a report on her comments about Democratic presidential candidates.
Conway has downplayed the importance of the law, saying in May 2019, “If you’re going to use the Hatch Act to silence me, it’s not going to work” and “Let me know when the jail time starts.”

Another shift in the family image came in 2020 after Claudia (pictured) criticized her mother and Trump, forcing her parents to quit their jobs to focus on their family.
The OSC recommended that she be “removed from federal service.”
Her personal life — a torrid divorce from her husband and “never-Trump” MSNBC favorite George Conway and her relationship with her outspoken liberal daughter Claudia — have also kept Kellyanne in the news.
In a 2020 statement, she called her time in the Trump administration “surprising” and “humbling” and said she and George made the decision based on what they believe is best for their four children.
Conway and her husband George filed for divorce in 2022 after 22 years of marriage, after she admitted her husband’s criticism of Donald Trump was treasonous.
While she worked tirelessly for the president, her husband, who co-founded the Lincoln Project, which tried to prevent Trump’s re-election, fiercely criticized the president on social media.
