NEW YORK– President-elect Donald Trump has selected Representative Elise Stefanik as his ambassador to the United Nations.
“Elise is an incredibly strong, tough and smart America First fighter,” Trump said in a statement announcing his choice on Monday.
Nikki Haley, who challenged Trump for the Republican nomination, was among those who previously served in that role during his first term.
Stefanik, 40, who chairs the House Republican Conference, has long been one of Trump’s most loyal allies in the House of Representatives and was among those discussed as a possible vice presidential pick.
