Meet Trump’s most controversial Cabinet picks that Republicans hope to confirm this week despite objections from Democrats
This week’s Senate confirmation hearings will put Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees front and center as lawmakers question them about their controversial history and ties to the incoming president.
These hearings, which will determine whether the new president’s hand-picked top staff can run his administration, started Tuesday with Pete Hegseth and will last all week.
Any Trump picks will effectively be tried before senators on the committees that oversee federal agencies.

Kristi Noem will not be questioned on Capitol Hill on Wednesday because her confirmation hearing has been postponed
By Katelyn Caralle, senior US political reporter
The hearing on President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to lead the Department of Homeland Security has been postponed.
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem was scheduled to hold her confirmation hearing before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
At the same time it was moved to Friday.
The change in schedule, according to reports, is “due to a delay in the FBI background check for Governor Noem.”
Trump’s nominee to lead the Interior Department, former North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, is also facing a two-day delay to his confirmation hearing due to delayed paperwork.
