Trigg Beach, Perth: Police shoot dead aggressive staffy after it attacked two little dogs at Perth beach

Police shot and killed a staffer after he attacked two smaller dogs during an arrest on a beach northwest of Perth.

Police responded to the Trigg Beach parking lot just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, where they discovered a vehicle believed to have been stolen earlier in the day.

Police say officers tried to talk to the 39-year-old driver of the car, but she fled down a beach path.

An American Staffordshire terrier accompanying the woman became aggressive towards the officers, forcing officers to use capsicum spray.

The woman was arrested on the beach and taken back to the parking lot.

“At that point, the dog approached and attacked two small dogs walking nearby in the company of a community member,” police said.

“An officer then shot and killed the larger dog to prevent further harm to those present.”

One of the smaller dogs, both dachshunds, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby vet for emergency medical treatment.

The woman was charged with stealing a motor vehicle, not driving a vehicle and breaching bail conditions.

She is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
