Tribute after ‘gifted footballer’ Josh Lloyd Roberts, 19, dies in car crash in Wales
A tribute has been paid to ‘gifted footballer’ Josh Lloyd Roberts after the teenager was killed in a car accident last week.
The 19-year-old, who is from Caernarfon, died on Friday after a crash on the A4085 between Peblig Industrial Estate and Caeathro.
Roberts was an ardent supporter of Caernarfon Town F.C. and the Wales national team.
Noel Mooney, CEO of the Football Association of Wales, paid tribute to Roberts on social media.
“Everyone is so sorry to hear Josh passed away,” Mooney wrote. “We are thinking of his family and friends.

Mooney confirmed that the FAW will mark Roberts’ death during Wales’ next home match against Armenia on June 16.
The FAW chief responded to a request to hold a minute of applause during the 19th minute of the match at Cardiff City Stadium.
Roberts was described as a “popular kid” and a “gifted footballer” in tributes from friends on social media.
He previously played for his hometown club, as well as Bontnewydd FC and Cardiff Met FC.
“As a club we were devastated to learn of the tragic passing of Josh Roberts, who was part of our BUCS team last season,” said a statement from Cardiff Met FC.
“We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family at this difficult time.”
Caernarfon Town FC fan account CofiArmy was among those who paid tribute to Roberts on social media over the weekend.
“Terrible news that came through this morning, one of our young supporters was tragically taken from us last night,” the tribute read.
