Tributes for young tradie Liam Burdett killed after he was crushed by a truck at Adelaide’s Edinburgh Royal Australian Air Force base

An Adelaide tradie who tragically died when he was hit by a truck at a military base has been remembered as a loving partner, brother and son.

Liam Burdett, 28, was working at the Edinburgh Royal Australian Air Force base in Adelaide’s north when he was struck by the vehicle about 8.15am on February 29.

Despite the efforts of emergency medical services, he died on the spot.

Friends and family of the Parafield Gardens man have a GoFundMe to raise money for his mother, Caroline Burdett-Hendriksen.

She described her son as “precious, smart, handsome and beautiful” and said her heart was “forever broken.”

Others who knew Mr Burdett paid tribute to him online as a popular and gentle young man.

“He was the most beautiful, kind-hearted man you ever met,” a relative wrote.

“He cared for everyone and brought joy and laughter whenever he was around. He deserved to live his life with his beautiful girlfriend.

“Our family will never be the same again.”

His school friend Arron Sharp said on the GoFundMe page that Mr Burdett ‘loved his partner, mother and brother very much’.

“He has been a loving friend to many over the years, in both good and bad times.

“During these difficult times, his mother Caroline deserves to mourn her great loss and not have to worry about the financial costs,” Sharp said.

“Liam, you are loved, you will be forever missed – forever young, forever 28 and forever in our hearts.”

WorkSafe SA is investigating the incident.

The driver of the truck, a 59-year-old man from Athelstone, has been charged with causing death by careless driving, reports Seven news.

The truck was owned by a local landscaping company.
