Trent Alexander-Arnold humbly celebrated Liverpool’s FA Cup victory with his former youth coach and Accrington Stanley manager John Doolan in a heartwarming moment.

Liverpool’s vice-captain returned to form with a stunning goal in the 4-0 third round cup win against League Two Accrington on Saturday after struggling against rivals Man United in the previous match.

Alexander-Arnold’s future with the Premier League leaders has become an increasingly worrying issue as he weighs whether to extend his stay or make a move as a free agent in the summer.

Real Madrid have already rejected a January bid for the England international and are expected to bring Alexander-Arnold to the club this summer if Alexander-Arnold does not sign a new contract with Liverpool.

The 26-year-old finds himself in the same contract situation as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, with each of the three currently entering the final few months of their existing deals.

However, Alexander-Arnold appeared to be loving his familiar surroundings after Liverpool’s cup win as he shared a touching moment with Doolan on the Anfield lawn.

Doolan previously coached Alexander-Arnold during the celebrated full-back’s formative years as a six-year-old at the club where he developed into a world-class talent.

Footage shows the pair embracing for several moments during a warm moment, despite the Accrington coach having just watched his side dumped out of the FA Cup.

Doolan then introduces Alexander-Arnold to some of his players before pulling the Reds star into the stands and appearing to point him out to family and friends in the stands.

The Liverpool goalscorer appeared delighted to have rekindled his youth relationship with his former mentor and Doolan told how he first worked with Alexander-Arnold.

“I said before the game that I coached Trent when he was six or seven and I don’t know if he remembers that,” Doolan said.

“Diane, his mother, would probably remember it when she took him to practice.

At the end of the game I didn’t see Trent. I walked up to our fans and he came up behind me in slippers and a big jacket and just said, “I remember”.

“Then we just started talking as if I had only spoken to him last week.

‘He is such a wonderful and humble man. He’s a top player, top player. If he does that, it shows the class he has.’
