‘I’m just dating a mate’: Trent Alexander-Arnold DENIES he’s trying to persuade Jude Bellingham to join Liverpool… despite fans dubbing him ‘Agent Trent’ after enjoying a walk with his England teammate in Qatar

Trent Alexander-Arnold has played down suggestions that he is trying to persuade Jude Bellingham to join him at Liverpool.

Both are in the England squad, with Gareth Southgate’s side currently unbeaten and in the last 16 of the World Cup.

Bellingham has long been linked with a move to Liverpool and speculation of a move to Merseyside recently increased after taking a photo with Alexander-Arnold.

The right-back captioned the photo, which was posted on Instagram: “Walk around town with brother.” Bellingham commented in response, “My brother.”

Asked about the reaction of Liverpool fans, Alexander-Arnold told BBC Radio 5 Live: ‘I’m just going out with a friend, right? Everyone saying ‘Agent Trent’ but no…

“A few of us went out yesterday, they gave us the day off, so we had a decent day.”

Asked if he posted the photo as a hint for a possible transfer, he added: ‘No, of course not, no. We just decided to take a photo.

But Alexander-Arnold says he was just spending time with his England teammate Bellingham.

‘The World Cups are once in a lifetime or a couple of times, not many people can say they’ve been to it. So it’s good to have some photos on board, that’s what we try to do.’

Alexander-Arnold has struggled for minutes at the World Cup, playing just 33 minutes in those coming against Wales.

By contrast, Bellingham has shone for England in Qatar so far, starting in all three group games and scoring in the opener against Iran.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs, including Manchester City and LaLiga giants Real Madrid.

Liverpool will have to break their bank if they are to sign Bellingham and strengthen a much criticized midfield next summer.

Bellingham and company will return to action when they take on Senegal in the round of 16 at Al Bayt Stadium on Sunday night.

A win for the Three Lions will see them take on the winner of France vs Poland in the quarter-finals.
