Trent Alexander-Arnold calls Liverpool's victory over Arsenal 'big' and explains how Jurgen Klopp's tactical adjustment helped them secure victory and take victory

Trent Alexander-Arnold said Liverpool's 2-0 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup third round was 'huge' as they were 'missing a lot of players'.

Liverpool secured their place in the next round of competition thanks to Jakub Kiwior's own goal and an injury-time strike from Luis Diaz.

Alexander-Arnold, who delivered the ball into the penalty area after Kiwior's 80th-minute blunder, credited Jurgen Klopp's tactics for their success on Sunday night.

Alexander-Arnold told the BBC after the match: 'It's a huge result. There are many players missing today, because the boys are playing in the internationals and Virgil (van Dijk) is not in the selection.

'We dug deep with two late goals. At half-time we turned things around and went out and played football and created our chances. The system change has had an impact for us.'

He went on to discuss Jurgen Klopp's half-time substitutions, saying: “I think there were moments in the first half where we were a bit naive, where we got caught playing from the back and they had their chances . of our mistakes and maybe a sloppy pass here and there.

'They are a team that applies a lot of pressure and they certainly will. We stuck to the way we wanted to play, we have an identity, we want to play football and use players' strengths with the front line we had, obviously Harvey (us) wanted to get him on the ball.

'Then we also have Darwin and Lucho with speed, so we play the balls in the back and give them what they wanted as well. We mixed it up, Darwin went a little bit wider and Cody went to the middle – I think that really made a difference.
