Treadmill tragedy as fitness fanatic, 22, stumbles backwards off running machine before plunging to her death out of gym’s third-floor window during workout

Horrifying footage shows a fitness fanatic being thrown from a treadmill and jumping from an open window on the third floor of her gym.

The incident took place in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The video shows a row of treadmills in the busy facility used by gym-goers on Tuesday, June 18.

Suddenly, a woman on one of the treadmills, said to be 22 years old, is thrown backwards and trips off the machine.

The woman, identified only by the initials FN, then trips and falls out of a nearby window, apparently trying to grab onto the frames to keep from falling.

Unable to stop the fall, she disappears from view, falling to the ground outside.

Local media reported that the victim had gone to the gym with her boyfriend and younger sibling.

Her boyfriend reportedly asked her to work out with him on the second floor, but she wanted to work out on the treadmills on the third floor.

According to local media reports, the woman had been exercising for just 30 minutes when she reportedly slowed down before the tragic fall occurred.

According to local media reports, she was reportedly taken to hospital with serious head injuries, but doctors were unable to save her life.

An autopsy revealed that she had suffered extensive bruising and lacerations to her head.

Police said the position of the treadmill in relation to the window was “dangerous” – just two feet apart.

The small height of the wall under the window – only 30 cm – made it easy for the woman to fall through.

The Pontianak Police Criminal Investigation Unit conducted a crime scene investigation and a number of people were suspected of opening windows at the accident scene.

Meanwhile, K-Gym suspended operations for three days after the incident occurred.

The gym had warning stickers telling gym-goers not to open windows, but the sticker was reportedly damaged and the writing was unclear.

There was usually also a personal trainer present to close the windows, Compass.com but they were on a break at the time of the accident.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall.
