Travis Scott ‘ready to turn himself in for questioning by NYPD after ‘hitting sound engineer’

Beleaguered rapper Travis Scott will turn himself in to New York police investigators next week after he was accused of assaulting a sound engineer inside a posh Manhattan nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning.

Scott, 30, is accused of hitting the 52-year-old man in the head and then damaging his equipment, including a video screen and speaker at a cost of around $12,000, inside the Nebula nightclub.

The Astroworld rapper then returned to California. His lawyers are negotiating with detectives for his return to the Big Apple, reports New York daily news. The Houston native is on the bill at Saturday’s Rolling Loud hip-hop festival in Los Angeles.

In an interview with fox New York, The attack victim said Scott made a face at him, because he asked him to turn the music down to improve the quality, and then attacked him using a “clenched fist,” police sources said.

‘My neck is fucked. My arm tingles. They give me pins and needles,” said the man identified only as Mark. A representative for the rapper told DailyMail.com that the incident was a “misunderstanding”.

Mark, the sound engineer who was attacked by Scott, says that his neck was “ruined” after the incident.

Scott performed with Don Toliver, who has a weekly spot at Club Nebula, in the early hours of the morning. The videos show the couple performing to a packed crowd.

‘I was trying to tell him to come down [the music] so it sounded good for acting, but it just put the middle finger in my face,” added Mark. “So I lowered the monitor a bit so I could talk to him, and that’s when he ran around the speaker and attacked me.”

Scott’s security guard then threatened Mark’s life, he said from his hospital bed at Jersey City Medical Center.

Before attacking Mark, Scott is accused of threatening and shoving a DJ. In a video from the club, Scott can be seen telling the DJ to “back off”. Witnesses had said that the volume was causing distortion and the DJ was trying to restore balance.

Once he realized he was being filmed, he also grabbed the phone from a fan’s hand.

Mark seemed confused by the rapper’s actions. “These are people who were trying to sound the best they could,” he said, turning to Scott.

“There were fans there trying to take pictures, you’re throwing their phones away, you know, these are people who respect you, who want what’s best for you. Maybe you should calm down and listen to what the people who are supporting you are trying to tell you,” she added.

Scott has insisted that the NYPD officers who brawled at the nightclub were called into a misunderstanding after a “great show”, despite him being seen yelling at a DJ, punching a sound engineer in the face and dropping a fan’s phone on the ground.

The videos show the couple performing before a crowd at the Times Square hotspot. They had played another show earlier in the night at Irving Plaza.

‘There was also a verbal dispute at that location which ended in $12,000 in damage to the equipment. At this time, no arrest warrant is issued and the suspect is not being sought. However, that may change,” a spokesperson told DailyMail.com.

Scott’s representatives insist it was all a misunderstanding.

“There were discussions with the venue which confirmed this was a simple misunderstanding that was resolved within minutes. The show was great and never missed a beat.

“This has the makings of a cash heist, but it will be resolved and everyone with an agenda will be held accountable.”

“Travis and our team are already working with the police to resolve and get to the truth,” a source said.

His attorney, Mitchell Schuster, added in a statement: “While this is clearly a misunderstanding being blown out of proportion by clickbait and misinformation, we are actively working with the venue and law enforcement to resolve it and set the record straight.”

“We are confident that our client will be cleared of any wrongdoing.”

Hundreds more were injured at the event, where the rapper was accused of whipping the crowd into a frenzy. He insisted that he did ‘everything he could’ to save the people who died. Scott was previously arrested for inciting riots at other shows.

Scott, who shares two children with Kylie Jenner, has yet to comment on the incident.

He and Kylie split again in January after spending the holidays together.

A source close to Jenner told DailyMail.com of the latest nightclub incident: “Travis’s anger issues are nothing new and were a big part of why he and Kylie broke up.”

“She is such a peaceful and calm person, and he was the complete opposite. She couldn’t take it anymore.

He has broken out on several occasions and anyone who knows him knows his temper.

“This is nothing new and no one is surprised to learn that he got himself into this mess.”
