Travis Kelce’s teammates make perfect gesture to show support for struggling Chiefs star amid slow start

Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice and fellow Kansas City wideouts are rooting for Travis Kelce during a rough start to the NFL season.

Ahead of the reigning Super Bowl champions’ showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night, Rice and the receivers wore custom Travis Kelce t-shirts to support the tight end.

While the Chiefs are a perfect 3-0 to start the season, Kelce is receiving a lot of criticism for his disappointing performances.

Through three games, Kelce has racked up eight receptions for 69 yards and zero touchdowns — which is low by his standards.

Last season, Kelce had 17 catches for 155 yards and two touchdowns in three games in the campaign.

The vintage-style shirts featured a collage of Kelce’s photos with “Travis” printed in red across the top of the front and the tight end’s last name in gold at the bottom. The world ‘Dreamathon’ is printed in gold on the back and three photos of Kelce celebrating underneath.

According to CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson“Rashee Rice got them for all the WRs to honor their leader and a man who mentored them all, especially Rice.”

While Kelce has struggled in the opening games, Rice and Xavier Worthy have stepped up to the plate and led the team in receptions.

Rice’s start was productive with 24 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Worthy made six receptions (81 yards) and a touchdown.

The Chiefs opened their season with a 27-20 win over the Ravens, a 26-25 win over the Bengals and a 22-17 win over the Falcons.

On the other hand, Los Angeles started their season with back-to-back wins over the Raiders and Panthers before losing to the Steelers in Week 3.
