Super Bowl winners Kansas City Chiefs have announced that their offseason training program will take place on April 15 and a mandatory two-day mini-camp will begin on June 11.
Their Organized Team Activities (OTAs) will be held at various intervals from May 20 through June 6, as Travis Kelce and his team begin taking the first steps toward their shot at an unprecedented three-peat.
For Kelce in particular, the dates offer some indication of when he will focus on football ahead of a summer in which he is expected to tour Europe with girlfriend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour dates.
Players like Kelce aren’t always present on every day of OTAs, but last year the tight end spoke to the media about “attacking them like it’s training camp” ahead of the new season.
And it was a method that served the Chiefs well as they went on to win a second straight Super Bowl.
Travis Kelce’s summer is taking shape as the Chiefs have announced plans for the offseason
Kelce has a mandatory mini-camp in June, which overlaps with Taylor Swift’s dates in Europe
During the Chiefs mini-camp from June 11 to 13, Swift will play at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool
But a year later, Kelce has become a real world name due to his relationship with Swift and she will embark on a four-month tour of Europe from the beginning of May, starting in Paris.
From there, the 34-year-old singer plays several shows every week.
The two-day Chiefs mini-camp from June 11 to 13 will see Kelce Swift miss Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium.
The iconic Premier League team owners, Boston Red Sox and Swift, will play there for three nights from June 13 to 15. Kelce could theoretically fly over after June 13 and attend one of the final shows.
Kelce is also hosting his festival, Kelce Jam, in Kansas City on May 18, so he might be inclined to stay in town on May 20 for the first OTA of the year.
The NFL season typically starts on the Thursday after Labor Day, which this year is September 5.
Typically, last year’s Super Bowl winners also start the campaign – last season the Chiefs actually started with a 21-20 loss at Arrowhead Stadium to the Detroit Lions and Kelce missed the game in pain.
Swift’s tour of Europe ends on August 20 at London’s Wembley Stadium, so she can be present when Kelce and the Chiefs begin their shot into history in early September.
Swift was a regular at Chiefs games last season as Kelce won another Super Bowl
But while Swift gears up for a tour of Europe, Kelce’s attention will be on preparing for the new season
It was previously claimed that Kelce had planned trips to vineyards in Italy with Swift – who plays a weekend in Milan on July 13 and 14 – and booked tables at some of Europe’s top restaurants while she was on tour.
But while it seems inevitable that Kelce will support his girlfriend wherever he can this summer, it won’t be long before his football commitments take center stage again.
When his commitments for the last season were over, Kelce headed to Australia and Singapore to catch her shows.
The couple was in the Caribbean last weekend and spent time together in the Bahamas.
