Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole has told Angel Reese she thought she would marry the NFL star during their on-again, off-again five-year relationship – and opened up about how his romance with Taylor Swift has impacted her life.
The influencer appeared on WNBA star Reese’s podcast to discuss her relationship with the 2022 Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl winner.
“My biggest piece of advice when dating an athlete is to always have your own advice. It’s very easy to get caught up in their dream, their vision for their life. Something I had to learn early on was that the relationship could be over tomorrow and what have you?’ she said.
“At the time it was a long-distance relationship, I went back and forth. I was between two apartments and thought, “It’s cool, we’re getting married and I’m going to live in the house, I don’t really need an apartment.”
“We broke up, my lease expired and my car lease expired all at the same time.

‘Luckily we got back together eventually, but from then on I thought it didn’t matter who I date, I’ll always have my own place, my own car. Support their careers and prioritize my own goals.
Nicole suggested the public nature of the breakup and Kelce now dating one of the most famous people in the world in Swift has been difficult.
“I think the combination of everything is the perfect storm to make you completely disappear from the world,” she said. ‘Behind closed doors, the hardest part is losing a partner, a best friend, who has to talk about cutting ties every day. Then you throw in social media.
“I’d be lying if I said that level of hate and online chaos hasn’t had an impact on me, even to this day. You could go to my most recent posts and people would debate why I suck.
‘It has nothing to do with me. I think there’s something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people, which is a shame because I don’t think I’ve done anything to warrant that kind of reaction.”
But Nicole spoke positively about Kelce. She called him “the best tight end” in the NFL and reflects fondly on their time together.
“It was a fun time,” Nicole said. ‘It was great. He’s a great guy, it was a good time in my life. So many lessons learned.’
Kelce and Swift made their relationship public in September 2023, when she appeared alongside his mother Donna at a Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium.
