Andy Reid hilariously discussed Travis Kelce’s sideline performance during the Super Bowl in February.

In the second quarter of the showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas, Kelce’s frustration reached a breaking point after he was pulled from a close game. As a result, Kelce bumped Reid, knocking him off balance, and he appeared to raise his voice at the coach.

While Kelce was criticized for the interaction, he and Reid appeared to laugh it off as they en route to their third Super Bowl title in five years. On Thursday, Reid appeared on The Herd with Colin Cowherd and joked about what he would have done if he had seen Kelce coming.

“I didn’t see him coming or I would have ripped his forearm,” Reid said, laughing. “You know, he got me.”

From there, Reid switched to a more serious tone, emphasizing Kelce’s passion, leadership and importance to the team. Reid also said that Kelce is like a son to him.

“I love his passion,” Reid said of the tight end. “He always says to me, ‘Wake me up!’ I’m hard on him: he’s like one of my children.’

“I try to stay on top of him and make sure he’s right because he’s the personality of our team.”

The Chiefs have now won back-to-back titles with quarterback Patrick Mahomes leading the charge. But despite Mahomes’ talent and leadership, Reid emphasized Kelce’s influence on the roster.

He also explained how those heated moments make the work exciting.

“As great as Patrick is, everyone follows Kels,” Reid told Cowherd. “When he’s excited, everyone follows along.”

‘Are things going a little crazy – yes. But that’s why the work is so great. His work is great, my work is great. We don’t get put at the back of a place card because we argue.’
