Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid felt the full wrath of -30 degree chills during their playoff victory over the Miami Dolphins last weekend, so much so that his mustache hilariously froze into mini icicles on the sideline.

But according to Travis Kelce, Reid wasn’t bothered at all by his viral new look.

“I heard my man (Chiefs offensive lineman) Creed Humphrey tell me a story today,” Kelce said of Saturday’s game on the latest episode of his New Heights podcast.

“He said Coach Reid came up to him after a drive and kind of motivated him to continue what we were doing.

“And Creed looks at the coach and says, ‘Coach, there’s something on your mustache.’

Chiefs offensive lineman Creed Humphrey told Reid his mustache was frozen, but he responded, “This is not a beauty pageant.”

“He says, ‘Yes, I know. This is not a beauty pageant. It’s a football match.”

The Wild Card Round game, which Kansas City won 26-7, went down as one of the coldest in NFL history, with players turning to extreme methods to combat the freezing temperatures.

Kelce revealed that a Chiefs player wore two pairs of socks, covered his ankles with tape and also put foot warmers on his feet, which apparently led to too much “pressure pushing him down.”

The player was then left with two huge blisters on the top of his feet.

“Just looking at it, I thought, ‘Damn dude, that had to hurt the whole damn game, didn’t you feel it?’ ‘, Travis recalled.

He added that some other players wore latex gloves under football gloves – a move he no longer does, he said, because it causes the football glove to slip.

Kelce also noted that many of his teammates used Vaseline (it didn’t help much), while Jason shared the idea that cayenne pepper in your socks would keep your feet warm.

His brother Jason asked, “It’s fun to see when the elements are so absurd. How hard was it to play in it?’

“It was shocking how cold it was,” Travis replied. ‘You’re standing by the heating, you’re in the dressing room, but when you go onto the pitch the temperature just drops. And you feel it in your hands, you feel it in your toes, your face.

“Everyone saw Coach Reid’s stache. I felt my mustache growing harder. It was shocking how cold it was.

“That was probably the first game I ever caught myself, like when, even on a car ride, I was taken for a play, running over the radiator to warm up my hands and feet in an attempt to feel bad. It was so terribly cold.’
