Travis Kelce injury update: Chiefs head coach Andy Reid reveals status after star tight end missed Week 1 defeat to the Lions
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has provided an update on Travis Kelce’s status ahead of Week 2 action after the star tight end missed Kansas City’s season-opening loss to the Detroit Lions.
Kelce was ruled out of the reigning Super Bowl champions’ first game of the 2023-2024 season last week after hyperextending his knee during practice just days before the game.
The 33-year-old’s injury is not believed to be serious, although Chiefs doctors initially feared it was. Reid said this week that Kelce’s health is improving and he could be available to play next weekend.
“Trav is getting better, he’s making progress,” Reid told Fox 4’s Rob Collins. “We’ll see how he does the rest of today and tomorrow, and we’ll go from there.”
The Chiefs’ passing game isn’t the same as it used to be, and it showed when Patrick Mahomes only threw for two touchdowns and 226 yards against the Lions.
