Travis Kelce goes through workout on the field before Chiefs face the Bears – but here’s why he WON’T feature in final preseason game

Travis Kelce had a big smile on his face prior to the Chiefs’ final preseason game of the summer, as he was put through his paces ahead of the team’s home game against the Bears.

The 34-year-old tight end wore an all-red Kansas City uniform along with other starters including Patrick Mahomes on Thursday at Arrowhead, running routes and kicking the ball.

But he won’t be taking the field, as Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed Monday. And neither will Mahomes.

“As far as the Bears’ rotation goes, I’ll probably leave the starters on the bench as it stands right now and let the other guys play,” Reid told reporters.

“We’ll see how that goes, in terms of repetitions.”

He was also seen kicking the pigskin, something you don't see very often

Reid’s words indicate that Kelce is watching his teammates from the sidelines as the team tries to win at least one exhibition game (0-3) before the fall.

Kansas City lost to the Jaguars in Jacksonville and at home to the Detroit Lions this summer, despite the fact that fans have not been upset about the team’s recent performance.

The Chiefs blew a 16-0 halftime lead against the Lions last week, but Detroit’s stunning comeback win went unnoticed because of the time of year the game was played.

Irv Smith Jr. was the Chiefs’ starting tight end against the Bears on Thursday.

Earlier this week, Kelce showed fans why he’s a three-time Super Bowl winner in a viral video in which he shares his football knowledge with “students” participating in his Tight End University’s offseason program.

He also caught a pass behind Mahomes’ back in the game against the Lions, despite running the wrong route, as the quarterback claimed, in the loss to the Lions.

Earlier this month, it was widely reported that Kelce bought a stunning $31,000 gift for his pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift.

Adam Sander also confirmed that Kelce will appear in ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’
