Travis Kelce calls Rashee Rice injury a ‘huge dagger’ as Chiefs star’s season hangs in the balance after Patrick Mahomes collision
Travis Kelce knows overcoming their offensive woes won’t be easier for the Chiefs going forward as he called Rashee Rice’s leg injury a “huge dagger for me.”
The severity of Rice’s leg injury is unknown, while Kansas City has not ruled out an ACL tear for the receiver, who emerged as Patrick Mahomes’ top target on the outside.
The injury occurred after Mahomes threw an interception to Kristian Fulton against the Chargers on Sunday.
When he tried to tackle Fulton, Mahomes missed and collided with the leg of Rice, who was left lying on the turf in pain.
“On the offensive side of the ball, we’ve got to be rolling, man,” Kelce said on “New Heights,” “and it won’t be any easier to see Rashee (Rice) go down during the game. I just love the way that man played football, how he attacked every day in training.”

Rice’s timetable for a possible return has not been announced and he could be out for the season
“Sometimes you root so hard for the guys that are doing it the right way, and Rashee did that too, man. It was a huge dagger for me when I saw him go down.”
“Outside of that, I found a way to get the ball into the end zone late, running all the way off the ball. Our offensive line is our biggest weapon right now, those guys up front are paving the damn way, tight ends included with Noah Gray and my man J (Jared) Wiley coming in, wide receivers doing their job, and the run game.”
“You’ve got to find a way to win ball games, and sometimes it takes little things that don’t always get the highlight. Wide receivers moving inside and digging safeties for another four, five yards. Running backs who run their tails off and get two, three extra yards.”
Kansas City has not announced a timetable for Rice’s possible return.
Kelce himself knows he hasn’t had the same level of production as normal through four weeks of the NFL season.
Taylor Swift’s boyfriend has averaged less than 40 yards per game and has yet to score a touchdown this season.
