Travis Kelce blasts claim he’s not ‘real fan’ of MLB team after Taylor Swift baseball date sparked outrage

Travis Kelce has responded to claims that he is not a true Cleveland Guardians fan after his baseball date night with Taylor Swift sparked controversy earlier this week.

Kelce, who was born about 15 miles west of Cleveland, attended the Guardians’ MLB playoff game against the Yankees in New York on Monday with pop megastar girlfriend Swift.

Although the NFL star had previously declared himself a Guards fan, he was criticized by Cleveland residents for not wearing any of the team’s colors or merchandise at Yankee Stadium.

When the Yankees came out on top, he also angered Guards fans by laughing and joking with Swift and even appearing to enjoy a Juan Soto home run.

However, after Cleveland’s dramatic comeback win over New York on Thursday night, Kelce stood up for himself and debunked the claim that he wasn’t a “real fan” in an angry rant on social media.

After three laughing emojis, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end wrote on enjoying it with my friends and family, WIN OR LOSE!!…and not once do I wear Cleveland gear [laughing emoji] and suddenly I’m not a real fan?!

“Ask anyone who was in or around that suite in game 1 who I was cheering for, they’ll let you know I was there for the @CleGuardians.”

Kelce couldn’t contain his joy after the Guardians came back from the dead Thursday night to topple the Yankees in an astonishing American League Championship Series game.

The Yankees were poised to lead 3–0 in the series when back-to-back home runs from Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton helped them to a 5–3 lead before the ninth.

But just when it seemed like New York was on the cusp of the World Series, outfielder Jhonkensy Noel forced extra innings with a sensational game-tying home run, before utility player David Fry proved to be the hero for Cleveland with a walk-off homer.

Monday’s Guardians-Yankees match was the second sporting event Travis and Taylor have attended in the Big Apple in recent weeks, after watching the US Open men’s tennis final on September 8 with friends Patrick and Brittany Mahomes.

When they took the Bronx by storm again, Kelce was seen with a Monogram steep chain while cozying up with the singer in their suite.

The statement piece retails for $975 and added flair to an otherwise minimalist outfit on the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
