Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes walk Morgan Wallen out at Arrowhead Stadium – and singer wears Chiefs jersey with Harrison Butker’s No 7

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes walked with country singer Morgan Wallen as he took the stage at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday.

Before they return to the football field next month, Kansas City Chiefs stars formed Wallen’s entourage as he prepared to serenade fans at the home stadium of the Super Bowl champions.

While the quarterback and tight end wore casual clothes to the show, Wallen, unsurprisingly, wore a red Chiefs uniform in honor of the team.

However, fans were divided over the singer-songwriter wearing number 7, the finger number worn on the field by controversial kicker Harrison Butker.

In May, Butker called on men to “fight against cultural emasculation” and argued that women are destined to be “housewives” while delivering a speech at Benedictine College’s graduation ceremony.

Butker’s speech was full of his conservative views, not only on gender roles, but also on abortion and vaccinations.

As a result, fans were outraged and complained about his worldview. Tennis legend Serena Williams also took a swipe at Butker during the ESPYs after a segment honoring female athletes.

Although photos from the show circulated, reactions to his song choice were divided.

“I was about to go to the car but he rehabilitated himself with Pat and Travis,” one user wrote.

“Awesome how he represents Butker!” added another.

Wallen, no stranger to controversy himself, came under fire in 2021 after video surfaced of him using a racial slur. Another angle of his Arrowhead appearance, however, shows he wasn’t exactly wearing a Butker shirt.

A user shared a photo showing that Wallen’s shirt had his name on the back, not Butker’s

The same user who posted the photo of Wallen with Kelce and Mahomes posted a photo of him behind him on the podium, writing, “Since this is coming up in the comments: No, that is not a Butker jersey. Wallen’s last name is on the back.”

The reason behind Wallen’s song choice remains a mystery. However, the number 7 could be a nod to one of his 2020 hits ‘7 summers’.

Kelce, Mahomes and the team are back on the training field after an eventful summer.

The Chiefs defend their title and aim for a third straight win on September 5 against the Baltimore Ravens in Arrowhead.
