A travel influencer fell and died after slipping at the top of a waterfall while creating content for social media.

27-year-old Aanvi Kamdar from Mumbai tragically fell into a 300-foot gorge while filming her scenic surroundings at the Kumbhe Waterfall in Manjurne, India.

The content creator was filming an Instagram video with six friends when she slipped and fell from the waterfall on July 16, during the local rainy season.

Her friends, who witnessed the terrible accident, immediately called emergency services.

Rescuers rushed to the scene and began rescuing Kamdar. One of the rescuers said: ‘When we got there, we saw that the girl had fallen almost 90 to 106 metres.’

They added: ‘Even after we reached her, it was difficult to get her up because she was injured and it was raining heavily. So we decided to get her out using a vertical pulley.’

Shantanu Kuveskar, another rescuer, described the challenging conditions: ‘She fell on the hard, slippery rock about 90 metres down in the valley and could not be spotted initially.

‘She was brought up on a stretcher attached to abseiling ropes. Six rescuers climbed down the hill, while another 50 people helped on the hilltop.’

Kamdar was alive and conscious when she was finally pulled from the gorge after a six-hour rescue operation.

She was taken to a hospital in nearby Mangaon on life support, but sadly died of her injuries shortly after admission.

In addition to her vibrant travel content, which had earned her 300,000 followers on Instagram and showcased her visits to Turkey, Azerbaijan and the Maldives, Kamdar was an accountant.

She and her friends visited the waterfall to capture its full splendor during the monsoon season.

Local officials have since warned tourists to be careful when visiting the mountainous area, especially during the rainy season, when conditions can be particularly dangerous.
