- The airline staff had no idea that his foot was lifting the bag to reduce its weight
A resourceful traveler has revealed how he breaks airlines’ strict baggage allowances by sneaking an extra bag onto the plane without paying.
The man hid his backpack by wearing a sweater over it before walking confidently to the busy airline staff to have his boarding pass checked.
Unbeknownst to the staff, the passenger – who was also holding a briefcase – was allowed to board the plane with an extra bag for which he did not have to pay.
Another passenger saw the move and shared it on TikTok.

She posted images of the man’s sweater stretched over the thick backpack with the caption: “If you don’t want to pay for that extra bag.”
Viewers were impressed by the man’s ingenuity.
“Man who was smart, even I didn’t see it,” wrote one viewer.
’20 kg of something in that bag. He’s a master of his craft,” said another.
Another creative travel hack had a man reduce the weight of his check-in bag by slyly putting his foot under it while it was being weighed.
The man made sure to maintain eye contact with airline staff when he pulled off the sneaky hack and avoided paying a hefty fine for excess baggage.
The cost of carrying an extra bag on budget airline Jetstar is about $45 on a domestic flight in Australia and New Zealand.
On flights between the two countries, the fee can be up to about $70.

Earlier this year, a flight attendant revealed his hack to smuggle extra hand luggage onto the plane without being charged.
Miguel Muñoz, who has been a flight attendant for more than a decade, said the trick to sneaking an extra carry-on on a plane is to disguise it as a duty-free purchase by hiding it in a grocery bag.
He said many passengers are not aware that duty-free baggage is not counted in the carry-on allowance – a fact that travelers can use to their advantage when they have more baggage than is allowed.
According to Miguel, passengers who want to smuggle some extra luggage onto their flight should simply ask the staff at one of the duty-free shops at the airport for a shopping bag, which they can then put in their own hand luggage.
