Punjabi singing sensation Diljit Dosanjh will be performing at a live concert in Chandigarh in December this year as part of his DIL-UMINATI India tour.
The country is witnessing a surge in travel bookings as fans flock to watch these two live performances, the ixigo report said, adding that the platform has seen a sharp increase in the number of flight, train and bus bookings and number of searches for major concert cities.
Mumbai has experienced a staggering 350 percent year-on-year (year-on-year) increase in flight bookings, the report said.
Chandigarh, one of the destinations for the DIL-UMINATI India tour, has seen a 300 percent increase in flight bookings year-on-year, the report said.
Other DIL-UMINATI concert cities such as Delhi, Ahmedabad and Indore have also recorded an average 100 percent year-on-year growth in flight bookings on their respective event dates.
“We have seen a significant shift in the preferences of Indian travelers, with more people willing to spend on experiences like music concerts and festivals. The passion for live performances drives fans to travel, and this increase in bookings for flights, trains and buses shows how music tourism is becoming a major force in the country,” said Aloke Bajpai, CEO of ixigo Group.
The report, based on ticket bookings and searches on the ixigo platform, further states that ‘tier II’ cities are driving demand for bus travel to concerts.
There has been a surge in bus searches from Jaipur, Nagpur, Dehradun, Varanasi, Indore, Surat and Kanpur for concert dates, it added.
