Transgender Scottish killer Sophie Eastwood, who identifies as a baby and baby food and demanded a doll behind bars, is being moved from women’s prison to men’s prison

A trans killer who identifies as a baby and demands baby food and pacifiers has been transferred to a male-only prison after several years in a women’s prison.

Sophie Eastwood – born Daniel – is serving a life sentence after strangling 22-year-old cellmate Paul Algie with shoelaces at the Dumfries Young Offenders Institute in Scotland.

Eastwood, now 38, began transitioning at the prison in 2017 and was later transferred to Cornton Vale, a women’s prison at the center of a row over housing trans inmates.

Her case has attracted attention due to a series of unconventional demands she has made while behind bars, including requests for pacifiers, diapers and baby food as she now identifies as a baby.

As part of a comprehensive investigation into the living conditions of trans offenders, Eastwood has been transferred from the women’s prison to HMP Shotts in Lanarkshire – a maximum security prison housing more than 550 of Scotland’s most dangerous criminals.

Sophie Eastwood, 38, is serving a life sentence after murdering her cellmate at a young offenders facility in Scotland. She was born male, but began to change behind bars

Eastwood — seen here living as Daniel — was a month away from release after being convicted of dangerous driving when she killed cellmate Paul Algie. She has served her minimum term of 15 years, but is not yet eligible for parole

She has previously claimed that she would be at risk of sexual assault if transferred to a men’s prison.

A source told it Scottish sun of the move: “This is a big step as Eastwood will be one of the first trans inmates to be transferred to a men’s prison.

Eastwood is a danger to the female population and should be housed with males.

Eastwood even identified as a baby and demanded baby food and a pacifier — that’s just taking the p***.

“To say Eastwood is not happy about the move is an understatement.”

Eastwood has served her minimum 15-year term for murdering her cellmate as of 2019 — but is not yet eligible for parole. She was a month away from being released on a dangerous driving conviction when she strangled Algie.

Earlier this year, she told the Daily record that any move to a men’s prison would put her in danger – and that she was “deeply sorry” for strangling her cellmate.

She said: “I was threatened by other inmates in the male ward when I started transitioning and the biggest threat was that I would suffer severe sexual assault.

“It was a relief to be transferred to the women’s estate, where I felt safe and gained the trust of fellow inmates.

“I think the staff of the Scottish Prison Service do a good job of guiding trans prisoners, but it would be impossible for me to feel safe in a men’s prison.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Prison Service said: ‘We do not comment on individuals.

“All trans men and trans women under our care are housed in a manner that meets the risks and needs of them as individuals and others in the establishment.”

Scottish prison bosses announced a comprehensive overhaul of trans convict regulations after trans rapist Isla Bryson was initially controversially housed with female prisoners Cornton Vale, in Stirling.

Born a man named Adam Graham, Bryson is serving an eight-year prison sentence after being convicted in February this year of raping two women in 2016 and 2019.

Sophie Eastwood had served her sentence at HMP Cornton Vale (left) near Stirling. But a comprehensive review of trans prisoner arrangements has kicked her out and moved to HMP Shotts (right), a maximum security prison

The case of double rapist Isla Bryson (left) sparked a review of trans-prisoner arrangements in Scotland. Bryson, who was charged as a man named Adam Graham (right), began transitioning while awaiting trial and is now serving an eight-year sentence

She began transitioning ahead of her trial and was transferred from Cornton Vale to HMP Edinburgh earlier this year after an protest.

But during the race to be elected Scotland’s new First Minister, Humza Yousaf accused Bryson of not being a ‘real trans woman’ and said she was ‘trying to play the system’.

Yousaf, who was Scotland’s Justice and Health Secretary before succeeding Nicola Sturgeon in the top post, said during an SNP leadership debate broadcast on the BBC: ‘What we should never do is because we have a despicable person like Isla Bryson the system, we should not reverse the rights of 99.9 percent of trans women who do not commit any crime.”

Conservative shadow justice secretary Russell Findlay said: ‘Sending a rapist to a woman’s prison exposed the dangerous reality of the SNP’s gender self-ID agenda – and rightly forced a review of trans prisoners.

“Prison staff will have assessed all factors, especially the safety of vulnerable female prisoners, before deciding on this transfer.”

Attempts by Ms Sturgeon to push through new self-ID laws allowing children as young as 16 to identify as their preferred gender without a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria were blocked by Rishi Sunak’s government in January.
