There are only five days until Christmas, but that doesn't mean there's a lull in football's rumor mill ahead of the January transfer window.

As injuries mount and a congested fixture list begins to take its toll, a number of Premier League sides are assessing whether their ranks have the necessary depth to challenge in the second half of the season.

It was reported yesterday that Manchester United will not see any significant signings in the January transfer window as they focus on finding clubs for their current players, including Jadon Sancho.

But other clubs such as Newcastle, who have been decimated by injuries, could opt to fill gaps in their squads in January.

Manchester United will focus on players like Jadon Sancho during the January window
