The transfer market is starting to heat up as we enter the latter part of the January window, with clubs facing a race against time to bring in reinforcements.

It’s been a relatively quiet period so far, with Jordan Henderson’s Saudi Pro League turnaround perhaps the story so far as the ex-Liverpool captain returns to European football.

Jadon Sancho has also left Manchester United on loan for Borussia Dortmund, while Brighton sealed the signing of highly-thoughtful Argentine wonderkid Valentin Barco from Boca Juniors for £8 million.

However, a number of clubs are still targeting new faces to boost their fortunes ahead of the run-in, with divisions such as the Premier League still as tight as ever at both sides of the table.

Here, Mail Sport takes a look at the biggest and juiciest bits of transfer gossip on Tuesday morning.

Manchester United want to offer both Jason Sancho and Antony to Saudi Pro League clubs for £50 million each. The two strikers have struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford since arriving for a combined £158.5million. (Evening standard).

West Ham’s move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja is reportedly off following a breakdown in talks. The Blues’ asking price of £50 million is believed to be too high for the Hammers, even if they are still in the market for a striker. (Football insider).

Lyon is trying to bring former striker Karim Benzema back to the club where it all started. While the club are in talks with the Ballon d’Or winner, finances are believed to be a potential hurdle in any potential deal. (The guard).

Kalvin Phillips’ potential move to West Ham is progressing well, with talks between the two parties set to resume following positive negotiations. Discussions with current club Manchester City about the structure of the deal continue. (Fabrizio Romano).

Barcelona have reportedly withdrawn from their own pursuit of England international Phillips. The club is in ‘the most difficult situations in the club’s history’, in the words of manager Xavi, and could not even afford a move. (Fabrizio Romano).

Manchester United have rejected an offer from Inter Milan to swap their right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka for Dutch international Denzel Dumfries. The Nerazzurri star has become something of a regular of late, but the Italians are trying to balance the books amid FFP concerns. (The sun).

Both Chelsea and Manchester United have been warned by Nice over their interest in centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo. The French defender has received a lot of admiration, but the club’s sporting director stressed that the player will not be for sale in January. (90min).

Newcastle view Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White as an ideal replacement for Miguel Almiron should the Peruvian leave the club this month. Almiron has been linked with a move to Al-Shadab, although Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are said to oppose any approach. (Football insider).
