Two trans women left horribly injured after ‘humiliating and traumatic’ attack as police investigate whether sickening assault was a ‘hate crime’

Two transgender women were brutally beaten and robbed at a charity street rave, and police are investigating whether the attack was a hate crime.
Quinn Tough, 22, and her friend Chyna were attending a fundraiser for the victims of the Turkish and Syrian earthquake at Westgate Park in Port Melbourne, Victoria, early Sunday morning.
Three men approached the couple and asked for cigarettes around 3am on Wharf Road.
Ms Tough told the men she was out of cigarettes to spare in a post on her Instagram account.
The bullies are understood to have started hurling anti-trans slurs at Ms. Tough and Chyna after realizing the two were transgender women.

A man hit Ms. Tough, causing her to fall to the ground.
Another then began kicking Chyna before pulling a knife on both women and threatening to ‘finish them off’.
“I got hit again, then another guy got in my face and told me to fuck off telling me he had a knife and was going to fuck me,” Ms Tough said in her Instagram post.
“She (Chyna) was on the floor with the boys attacking her, her hair ripped out and her clothes torn as they yelled death threats.
‘My mind is in a mess, almost thinking we deserve this because the fight we have to keep fighting is brutal and ruthless… change starts now.’
The men stole one of the woman’s bags containing her identification, wallet and cash, while continuing to utter threats and insults, and then fled the scene.
As a result of the malicious beating, both women suffered bruises and cuts on their faces, their clothes were torn, and their hair was pulled out.
Chyna, who suffered a bruised eye, described the assault as “humiliating and traumatic” in a post.
“It’s something I have to live with,” he said.
“My first encounter with hate crime and violence directed at trans people, dwelling on what happened will only be more destructive.”
The two friends received an outpouring of support online following the sickening attack.

Ms. Tough and Chyna suffered bruises and cuts to their faces, had their clothes torn, and had their hair pulled out. One of the women also had her bag stolen.

A Victorian Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that Melbourne Embona detectives, who investigate armed robberies, were handling the case.
“Detectives are investigating after two women were assaulted and robbed at an outdoor dance party in Port Melbourne in the early hours of Sunday morning,” the spokesperson said.
Police LGBTIQ liaison officers contacted victims and offered referrals or any other assistance that might be needed.
Officers are trying to establish whether the assault on the women was a hate crime.
