Trans woman cleared of flashing penis at YMCA for being too fat to reveal genitals
A judge ruled that a transgender woman could not have indecently exposed her penis in a YMCA women’s locker room after agreeing with her claim that she is too fat to be visible.
Darren Glines, now called Rachel, was found not guilty of three counts of indecent exposure at the Xenia, Ohio, facility.
Judge David McNamee gave Glines permission after agreeing that the size of her abdomen meant it would not be possible for anyone to see her penis.
Glines, 31, has had several complaints against her dating back to 2021 – with at least three people complaining of seeing a ‘naked man in the women’s locker room’.
One of the complaints stated that three youths were present during the incident, with a woman going to reception to report the problem.
But she was reassured by an employee that it was “actually a woman” and that she “shouldn’t have been disturbed” except for the incident.

Judge David McNamee said there was “little disagreement about the facts of the case,” as Glines had received permission from the YMC’s executive director to use the women’s locker room.
Jacqueline Brockman said Glines was allowed to use the facilities at all YMCA locations in the Greater Dayton area.
The case was legally brought against Darren Glines, but she is now called Rachel and has not undergone sex reassignment surgery.
McNamee said, “There’s no question that Glines was in the ladies’ locker room. However, Glines was not charged with trespassing, nor was Glines accused of being in an area of the YMCA where Glines was not supposed to be.
‘Hush, the facts are not there to support an admission of guilt, as an indictment. Glines’s genitals were not visible because other parts of her body covered them.”
Glines’ lawyers, Lauren and Keara Dever, both argued that she was so fat that her guts would obscure her genitals.
In a statement released Monday, Glines’ lawyers said, “It is unfortunate, not just for her, but for the entire community, that the filing of these charges ever happened.
“We are grateful that the rule of law and truth have prevailed so that Ms. Glines and the community can move forward in peace.”
Xenia City Council President Williams Urshcel (above) said one of the women who filed a complaint was reportedly informed by a YMCA staff member that Glines identifies as female so that she “would not be disturbed by this must become’.

Urschel told the story at a Greene County Tea Party meeting, which resulted in audible laughter from those in attendance.
The rest of the city council released a statement saying that Urshel’s comments were “his own” and that the charges against Glines came from the Xenia Police Department’s own investigation.
“Neither the Xenia City Council nor any member of the council had any part in the decision to file public indecency charges related to the use of the YMCA locker rooms.”
The YMCA of Greater Dayton said in a statement that they would continue to comply with the law while ensuring the privacy and safety of all members.
“Under no circumstances will we examine an individual’s birth identity and then assign individuals to locker rooms,” the YMCA said. “That would be against the law, against respect for all people and it is not who or what we are as an organization.”
A YMCA employee was called to testify at trial and told the court to get a restraining order against Glines after assaulting her.

Kateisha Young told Reduxx that Glines grabbed her genitals after they went for coffee.
Young claims that Glines began visiting her workplace after the attack, knowing when she would be working.
She added that she fears she will be forced to find other employment once her protection order against Glines expires in 2024.
The incident at the YMCA in Xena is just one of many that have affected the group’s facilities in the US.
Julie Jaman, 80, was banned from a YMCA pool after demanding a transgender employee leave the women’s locker room.
She had been a regular at the Mountain View pool in the Washington town of Port Townsend when she spotted the maid in the locker room while she was showering.
Jaman claims she heard a “man’s voice” while changing clothes and immediately confronted the maid, Clementine Adams, who identified herself as a woman.
She said she asked Adams if she had a penis, and she said it was “none of her business,” so she asked them to leave.
Jaman told an employee at the pool, was told by YMCA water sports manager Rowen DeLuna that she was “discriminatory” and that the police would be called.”
She was told she was “banned from the pool forever” before DeLuna called the police, where Jaman was described as having an “emotional reaction” and “yelling” in an incident report.
