Tragic update after Queensland woman was shot in the back while sitting in a car
A woman is at risk of death and life-changing injuries after being shot in the back in a car. Police have appealed for public information about a vehicle of interest.
Linley Anyos went to a house on Trees Road, Tallebudgera, on Queensland’s Gold Coast, at around midday on Wednesday when she was shot in the back.
The 33-year-old was sitting in the passenger seat of a car and police believe the shot came from the car and went through the seat.
“The victim remains in critical condition, she is classified as serious but stable,” Detective Inspector Mark Mooney told reporters on Monday.
‘The doctors will try to bring her out of anesthesia today, which is a very critical phase for her.
‘There is clearly a chance that she could go into shock and still die from her injuries. The injuries she has sustained are significant and will be life-changing.”
Ms Anyos’ father, Brian, said his daughter is in “very bad shape” but is “fighting like an animal.”
“This is bloody hard for us and… please respect our wishes, knowing we will pass on every message for Linley as it comes in,” he wrote on social media.

Police are appealing for public information and dashcam footage after a woman was shot in a car
Police are now appealing for public information and dashcam footage of a white Hino tow truck that they believe left the scene immediately after the shooting.
Det Insp Mooney said the tow truck drove around the Tallebudgera area before returning to Nerang after the incident.
Investigators are still trying to piece together the entire puzzle after taking more than a dozen witness statements.
Police executed a search warrant at an address in Southport on Friday looking for a person of interest.
